I had NVI0IA drivers version 555 and wow was working fine. In classic, I had my graphics settings to 10 without any issue.
Then, I got a notification from the NVIDIA app that a new driver was available. I installed it (version 566).
After that, wow became unplayable. What happens is that when I enter the gamxe, the fans start to blow like crazy. And after some time, the computer just shuts down (from overheating, I’d guess).
I have tried to uninsftall/reinstall the driver, I still got the same problem. Same after downgrading tthe driver to the previous version (55)5).
Since the problem occurs with both versions, I suspect that the driver changed some settings in the config.
So, I tried to uncheck the “Optimize” and to restore defaul,t settings in the NVIDIA app. It didn’t fix the problem, which happens in both classic and retail, btw.
Has anyone got an idea on how to fix this issue, please?
Do a clean install. Never install drivers from the app. To do that download Display Driver Uninstaller. Open Windows in safe mode and wipe your current intalled driver using DDU. After that download driver from the official Nvidia site and install it.
If you not sure how to do that, there is plenty tuturials on the YouTube.
Got the same issue months ago and noticed that the driver installation unchecked the fps options. Once I was starting the game, fps were increasing exponentially and fans were going crazy mode. Once I fixed the fps options, the issue disappeared. Hope it helps.
Tbh i can see why he has this issue i did the same and all the water in one of the dungeons flickers when i go in so tomorrow im going to manually uninstall the bloody driver and head over nvidia’s site and get myself the driver directly.
It should be noted that bad driver installs can affect everything including fps to lag and a host of other issues.
Depending on the driver it can even make your system vunerable to hackers via weak or damaged code.
