okay i want talk about this subject with everyone in this game.
so i’ve been playing world of warcraft for about almost 3 and a half years and i’ve mastered gameplay to top tier level of M+ and mythic raiding.
so here’s the thing, i’m absolutely DIFFRENT than anyone else keybinding in the game.
i’ve been trying to learn the “basic” keybinding of most players ingame for that entire period untill i decided to litterly drop everything, guild progress, mythic+ pushing and litterly creat a new character from lvl 1 to 120 with that keybinding.
okay was easy at the start even in pvp but at max level it started getting way over the rate. i tried mythic+ dungeons with it on th new character and my dps was absolute trash, tried pvp and legit i barely hit a thing.
so let me explain to you this, you see people saying mouse camera rotation is absolutly NEEDED for gameplay ? well it’s not actully.
you can legit play the whole game at the highest gameing tier without even using the mouse AT ALL.
i have mastered my gameplay with left hand on the 4 movement buttons and my right hand on the entire numberpad (including alt+numberpad / shift +numberrpad / ctrl+ numberpad) and it is smooth as hell to do rotations with legit keyboard camera rotations.
if you don’t belive me have a look at my character ingame.
so back to the “basic” keybinding. so you’re using 3 or 2 movement buttons and the entire space around it is ability buttons yea? and mouse camera rotation (with a rare usage of mouse movement left/right clicking).
what i’ve experienced in this keybinding that everyone is talking about is that it is legit frustrating and exausting for the hand with very high chances of failing game mechanics because you’re mainly pressing damage buttons and also trying to move with your left hand. please don’t say pressing both mouse buttons to move forward and just rotating camera to try going left or right while still pressing buttons is better than pressing the actual “STRAFE RIGHT/LEFT” because it’s not at all it’s legit horrible.
now please how on earth do you manage to play like this with this handicapping keybind? just for 1 benefit which is mouse camera rotation.
It works fine.
Maybe it depends on what class you play, what content you do, and what level of perfection you seek, but for my needs the basic keybinds configuration has worked fine for 15 years. And I don’t have any desire to forcefully change what I’m comfortable with just because I can.
But if you’ve found some keybinding setup that fits your needs just perfectly, then great, good for you.
If it works fine for you then why would you care ?
Pretty sure there are various ways that works better for various people. We aren’t wired exactly the same. The most simple comparison is how some are left handed and some are right handed, and how some people think it’s better to eat with the fork in the left hand, and the knife in the right hand, while others prefer having the fork in their right hand, and the knife in the left one, even though both are right handed, e.g.
Personally I can’t do CTRL and ALT or Shift combos. I will always get the order the oposite way, which is kind of interesting, but I’ve learned to accept it. I have found a system that works smoothly for me.
Keybindings are a very personal thing and what works for one player won’t necessarily work for anyone else. Just because a top player uses a certain keybinding doesn’t mean that if you use the same you’ll become a top player too. That would be like getting the same hairstyle as Donald Trump and expecting to be the President of the US.

How on earth do you multi dot 3-4 different targets front and back, look around for incoming mechanics / adds to target, and keep a dps rotation going without one hand firmly planted on your mouse?
How do you use a gateway?
How do you “Mouseover” anything, at all.
How do you turn around and go the opposite way to where you’re facing and continue to dps?
I play without keybinds, always have… would kill for easier targeting, rather than tabbing through a bunch of pets, then finding the nearest legit pvp target is…always out of range.
Unintelligible mutterings…eyetwitch…
I really only use [mod] [nomod] Macros + side mouse 16 extra buttons.
Its something that I’ve naturally attuned to but my bf is still a manual mouseover clicker but still does fine in Normal+Heroics as myself 
People like their own playstyle.
The hell, I thought everyone bound strafe to A/D. I need the Q/E for keybinds
I would recomend you do it the same way as everybody else. Start with a few binds, get used to them and add more in over the time. Its not easy to get used to when u suddenly decide to drop everything and bind all stuff including hs and mounts 
. It is overwhelming, confusing and definetly it will hinder your performance if you do it at once. Im personaly instead of modified k-binds(ctrl, alt) using an mmo mouse with multiple buttons and only shift- mod on keyboard. Over the course you will see that it is waaaaaay faster and way better to use keybinds than a mouse clicking or turning with keyboard buttons. Just dont give up, keep practicing and it will improve your gameplay alot. We all started there.
