I used to have some great macros back in MOP, they’d do about 6 things all at once. Call up my Fire Ele, pop Heroism, cast Ascension, use Kafa haste buff thing, put Flame Shock on target. And then I was ready to spam Lava Burst for a minute or what ever. Did great damage.
Now I don’t use too many of them. Most macros I use are for raids with a /Target X (for certain fights, in Dragon Soul Spine was easier with this to find the tendon etc).
A common as well as a mandatory kind of a basic macro is the @cursor one.
Disables the area of effect of a targeted ground spell making it instant cast basically.
So you wanna comment anything else, perhaps something more constructive?
What do you need that you don’t have? Other than literal rotation macros using /click - that was so stupid. Can literally just make infinite size macros this way.
Make two macros. In the first one, write /click ActionButton7. Then, on then on the 7th button of your main action bar place another macro.
The two macros now chain together, allowing you to write gigantic macros that basically play the game for you, aka “lazy macros”.
They aren’t that good, especially these days, but they can cut down quite a bit on rotational busywork.
They should not exist, but then again some of these rotations and meaningless buttons shouldn’t exist either.
Didn’t know you could do that. I always assumed you couldn’t.
What happens if that first macro is on button 6 and the macro on button 7 calls back to 6?
6 calls 7 calls 6 calls 7 and on and on…
Maybe that’s why the server are so laggy!
/castsequence still works and you can chain that as many times as you want. I use one for reaper’s mark and cast a soul reaper straight after on a blood DK. You cannot use a single button press for two abilities, but you can chain them for things that you know will run in a sequence.
I don’t play the game at a level that needs such functionality anymore.
I’m not interested in reading guides anymore either.
Thankfully Ele Shaman is fairly easy so I’ll just stick to Gram for most things.
When I take out an alt these days I’m somewhat befuffled by many of them. Druid and Priest are particularly Byzantine. Frost Mage and Blood DK are reasonable simple.
Only if they’re on the global cooldown, simply because the GCD won’t let them be used simultaneously. You can use as many abilities that are off the GCD as you want with one macro click, and even one ability that’s on the GCD on the same macro.
I used this to swap between shield/1h and 2h on my warrior. Now I can achieve the same with /equipset except now I get a sound of equipment every time I press it. I can also write the weapon link but with 255 characters there’s a limit.
I had a macro that would cast demo shout when I pressed with shift, ctrl to equip shield and go into defensive stance to cast rend, alt to go into battle stance and cast thunder clap, while the nonmod would just cast combat stance with rend using my 2hander.
I can’t achieve this anymore thanks to the 255 character limit. I technically can if it weren’t for the constant sounds of equipping my 2hander or my shield and 1hander.
