Imagine a WC3 map editor style modding tools officially supported by Blizzard.
Only available if you’re subscribed. This would extend the lifetime of WoW… to infinity.
This would be the biggest and coolest thing ever.
Fornite has it. You could imitate a lot of things based of that.
There are tools out there in the unofficial space, but Blizzard’s whole business model here is that you pay a subscription so that they can make content.
None of the Devs can compete with modders, if there’s sufficient amount of them. Just look at Skyrim modding scene, or more recent BG3 one. Both were/are good games on their own, but the amount of mods made makes it impossible for any studio to compete.
Dunno if modding as a whole could work, but imagine the thing we could do with personal dungeons.
Same technology as garrisons, but players have option to customize them to make their own dungeon (from mobs to mob ability to traps to whatever else). This can extend to vehicle combat, so even tower defense can be implemented.
And since we are limited to a single “dungeon” and official wow assets, the rest of the world is not impacted.
