More seriously, if we want to remove gold in circulation, we could delete half the gold and mats players possess at the end of every expansion. Sure this would cause unintended consequences though.

There was an experiment to study Game Theory. 10 people were given 100 chips and sat around a table to play a game. Each round they could put in some of their chips into the middle of the table. This pot was then doubled and returned to the players.
Round 1. Everyone puts in 100 chips. Everyone gets 100 chips back plus another 100 chips reward. Everyone has 200 chips.
Round 2. Everyone puts in 100 chips except some jerk who puts in 0. The pot is 900 which is doubled to 1800 and everyone gets 180 chips back. Everyone has 280 except the Jerk who has 380.
Round 3. There are 3 Jerks.
Round 4. There are 8 Jerks.
Round 5. There are 10 Jerks and nobody gets any more chips.

There are already taxes in the game, called āgold sinksā see pets, mounts, learning flying skill - some of these are one time other like repair are persistent. Iām not against more goldsinks seeing how inflation is running its course through WoW.
Anyway to the crux of the issue: If you flat tax everyone, literally everyone 10% of their current held gold they will just rush the AH - short term hyperinflation on goods may occur before settling and then people will keep their wealth in āuntaxableā goods minus AH cut.
The tax would only take (il)literal people unaware in the first few weeks tops. Goldsellers and boosters would sell items and take items to avoid gold tax. Nothing would change. This was also discussed in the past when presenting a flat gold tax.

Well, OP cleary wants free gold from the rich. If you really want gold, you donāt need taxes, you can buy a token.
Also, you donāt even need a lot of gold to play the game as nearly everything is purchased with other currencies.
A WoW tax? Sure! Iām dead anyway so taxes donāt apply to me. Only you living scrubs have to pay taxes.
