There is no need for a tax because gold not spent is gold not participating in the economy. If I have 65 alts all at the gold cap and do nothing with it, that gold does not cause inflation; if anything it caused deflation because it was somehow removed from other players (assuming that the gold was not created by killing monsters, vendoring stuff or completing quests but from AH trading).
What is needed is more significant gold sinks, ones that are not tied to cosmetics but to actual utility or even (in)direct power. Crafting, repairs and the 5% AH cut are not enough.

Umm that’s not how currency or taxes work, you do know it rarely actually goes to the poor right? Most of the time it’s to pay for something that effects us all, it ain’t like we get them back at some point.
I would be happy to pay taxes but not to go to the “Poor”. If they can fix the potholes in and around Valdrakken then that would be worth doing…

The problem with this is that new people like myself will be hit hard by these sinks because we do not have these large amounts of gold to take from.
I do get the merit they would bring in removing gold from the game, but newer players will be hit hard by this.
Sry but taxes exist in order the state to provide social services, public healthcare, education and transportation. We get none of this so screw taxes. Redistribution of gold doesn’t solve the money(gold) unbalance cause everyone manages his/her wealth differently.
What does that have to do anything with it?
You don’t even need these tokens to make gold.
Not even politicians are this cruel.

Thats the problem the Blizz itself created and wants to remain unresolved. Don’t expect them to do anything cause they have profit from these activities
