WoW not utilizing system resources

Hello!

The issue is as follows:

GPU never goes above 25% utilization while playing the game resulting in low FPS in several areas such as Bastion.

I have never seen the game go over 59 fps regardless of game settings and it often dips to 25 or ever lower.

Usage is so low in fact that the fans don’t even need to kick in because temps are just super low.

Windows version and Nvidia driver version (studio or gaming) doesn’t seem to have anything to do with it since this has been going on at least since the launch of SL.

Addons don’t seem to affect performance in any way either, I tried removing them all just to see if it made a difference but it did not.

At first I thought my GPU just couldn’t handle 4K that well but that does not seem to be the case after all.

I am playing using settings that are lower than what nvidia geforce experience recommends as well but no matter how low I drop them I still can’t get 60FPS or above and I still have issues in areas such as Elysian Hold.

I don’t care about having a trillion FPS even tho my monitor can pull 120, 60 is enough, I just don’t want it to dip to super low numbers whenever a lot of things are happening because it causes me nausea and I don’t particularly like that :stuck_out_tongue:

My specs are:
i9 9900K / RTX 2070 / 64GB 3200 RAM / Win10 / 870 EVO SSD

I’ll be happy to provide any extra information that may be required.

Thank you in advance!

Did you disabled VSync in the game? Do you have Gsync or other FPS limited set?

I have tried Vsync off, didn’t do anything other than cause excessive tearing.
After reading your reply I tried turning Gsync off and am running at around 35fps in Elysian Hold with 0% GPU usage apparently…
I feel like the game just ignores my GPU completely and just runs on a couple of CPU cores or sth…

Sadly WoW has been like this from the beginning.

With those specs, he should be getting way way higher fps, regardless of the outdated WoW-code.

There may be a driver conflict which sometimes happens for Nvidia. Remove the driver with DDU, check for motherboard drivers updates (like audio) and then install Nvidia driver from scratch. If that won’t help we can look at other things

I will give that a shot, however, I don’t think it will have any effect as I’ve recently formatted my system entirely (for other reasons) , reinstalled everything and that didn’t impact performance at all.

Excessive amounts of addons can also have a negative effect.
