Imagine they put it on cloud too and let us play it on a phone or tablet with controller :joy: I would only play wow this way going forward. I really don’t like playing on PC

They’re really going to the bottom of the ocean with this game. Just what I wanted, the Call of Duty playerbase in WoW

It’s crystal clear where this is headed make no mistake about it. I know exactly where this is going to end up

You officially can on Geforce Now for quite awhile now…

I don’t think it’s going to happen, even though I don’t have something against the idea.

Blizz would need to radically prune so many class abilities to make the game enjoyable on console controllers. They’ve made some small simplifications here and there to lots of classes since Dragonflight added a lot of bloat, but I don’t think it’s enough to make it console-friendly. I don’t see Blizzard making further reductions because they recently added the rotation assist and one-button-helper.

For the game to be attractive to new players, WoW needs to be more intuitive to play. I don’t think player housing is enough to make console gamers want to play WoW.

ConsolePort addon makes it very easy to play with a controller. Even as a healer… though it’ll take awhile to get used to;

Playable on console does not require playable with controller. Consoles have supported keyboard+mouse for more than a decade now.

Yeah, but that only works for some specs in easy content. E.g. dealing with this week’s M+ affix sometimes requires targeted abilities like Ring of Peace or Capacitor Totem to be placed with precision. And in more challenging dungeons and raids, one has to select targets to heal extremely quickly; no way you can do that in <100 ms by pressing a button multiple times to scroll through a raid party frame.

Since Blizz is Microsoft now I really hope it won’t be an X-Box exclusive.

Yeah i wouldn’t use a controller for high end content, but it’s great to chill out on… I often play WoW on my Steam Deck while in bed. :stuck_out_tongue:

Where?Tell me more?

I think it will definitely happen.

90 million potential PS5 and Xbox players rolling up using OBR and calling anyone who doesn’t use it a boomer or a PC Andy. I’ll be doing that when I play on Xbox.

Like… perhaps… removing addons from third parties and add them straight to the game?

Why on Azeroth would the Call of Duty crowd suddenly down tools and flock to WoW? Different genres totally , it might bring some FFXIV players over and new players into the world which is good news.

I don’t know how well consoles are going to run WoW. The engine is ancient and heavily CPU bound. The current consoles are five years old.

It will on xbox.
Watched youtube short with Xaru reacting to it.
Now we know the one button assist true meaning.
Can’t wait for wow on android tho.

Would be better than most toasters ppl use here…

If WoW were released on console, Blizzard might want to keep console and PC players separate, not cross-platform — kinda like ESO.

Just think about it — if people are using WeakAuras to detect other players running the one-button rotation (OBR) so as to exclude them from content… you can almost guarantee people would find a way to detect console players too — and do the exact same thing.

You might wanna watch this interview with Ion Hazzikostas about the future of Addons, because it basically answers your worries:

In the future they want to restrict addons in a way that aligns with their design goals. An example is that they wanna restrict players potentially from tracking the Auras of other players, so they have to call things out themselves

I expect they will just kill addons. They just have to do it slow.

It’s like OBR “being for disabled people”, it’s actually for console players.

They can’t just say “We’re killing all addons, bringing WoW to console and adding OBR for our new console bros who none of you even wanted!”
