It may happen, but the subscription won’t be included, I guarantee it.
Honestly think it could be the other way. Subscription rolled into the PC Gamepass (with gamepass being upped by a few £ a month) but still requires purchase of the expansion to play current content
Gamepass atm is insanely good value for money by getting new releases priced at £60 and a few hundred other top class games for ~£10 a month. So enticing both more people onto it with Wow sub and opening wow to the 25m+ people who have gamepass is, imo, a no brainer especially with wows controller integration being done (although it needs some refining).
It won’t happen because the courts are gonna kill them, since the merger was specifically only allowed to go through if they didn’t put the ActiBlizz games into GamePass and GamePass streaming - in order to avoid it being such good value that it kills Sony’s attempt.
The purpose was to stop CoD from going on there, but the ruling applied to all the games.
Even Diablo 4, so there are already rumblings.
The new COD has been put on PC gamepass alongside all other platforms.
The initial merger holdup rulings were purely on the cloud gaming side of it and were being pushed by Sony (the industry hypocrites) who fought against pc/xbox exclusivity even though they’re the worst people in the industry for exclusives. Which lead Actiblizz to sign multiple distribution deals for their main franchises.

Except of course that ESO is also owned by Microsoft and, while it is on GamePass, comes without any expansions and you still need to pay a subscription fee or buy each piece of content individually to be allowed to actually play anything current.
So maybe we’ll see something like GamePass gets you everything except Dragonflight and you need to pay a sub, but hey you don’t need to pay for the base game.
Which costs a month of sub and includes a month of sub.
So yeah…
And it gets worse - GamePass games are expected to use the new executable format which protects against modification, but WoW is incompatible because you are meant to be able to do that, so they’ll have to rearchirect where you put addons and stuff like that. This is also a problem for ESO.
And it’ll break Linux compatibility if they remove the old exe, which they actually care about. WoW’s Windows version has different features when run under wine. Some settings are disabled and other ones appear. For example raytracing gets turned off and it explicitly says “not supported under wine”, but you can use the windows key for keybinding. And alt+tab, too!
Part of me just think that rolling the sub into gamepass is sensible while keeping the rest of the infrastructure separate so as to avoid the situations you’ve pointed out.
So just sort of merge blizz account with the gamepass account?
I dont know. I have gamepass so maybe its just wishful thinking but who knows. I guess adding to gamepass causes other issues like what to dowith already purchased sub time via 6/12 moth sub packages.
They may re-structure everything at some point.
I definitely think we’re all gonna have to use Microsoft accounts soon.
Which I do not have, and really do not intend to have, so that’s… fairly annoying actually.

Unfortunately so. Ultimately the main thing companies make money from now is our data. So forcing accounts etc is easy money for them.
That’s precisely why I don’t like it. I don’t trust Microsoft with my data.
Looks like my data is gonna be with Microsoft whether I like it or not though.
I’m going to delay it as long as possible.
I tried GamePass PC, but really didn’t like the software. I also prefer having most of my games on Steam, and I have a PS5, not an Xbox.
If WoW’s subscription were included in GamePass PC, I’d consider getting it, but not if it required the Ultimate tier. That would be too costly.

What with addons. You need addon to play wow on higher level.
People seem to equate “bring to gamepass” with “bring to Xbox”
It’s not the same thing.
There are plenty of PC only games on gamepass already. If it were to come to GP it would be one of them.
I doubt they will though.
ESO has been on GP for years (console only) and there’s never been a free sub for it.
You do get cosmetics etc from time to time though.
That’s most likely what you’re get for WoW

Just imagine if they added something like the brutosaur as a Game Pass perk.
Interesting that Xbox posted TWW trailer on their YT channel too. Also, Blizzard is set to be in the Xbox booth at Gamescom.
This is what I’m afraid of, on some realms this behavoir is strongly present as is. Not sure if I can handle more.

Don’t fool yourself. Even if Blizzard would still be not acquired. Diablo 4 would have ended on the game pass anyways.
Because Diablo IV is not relying on a suscription like WoW, as you said.
Also, Game Pass is a paradox offering. You give basically away revenue. Hence why the concept is loosing Xbox/Microsoft more and more money, at least, if they put brand new games day 1 onto game pass. Because why buy it when you can rent it?
