Wow on Shadow PC

Hi.

I’ve been using virtual machines like g Force now or shadow PC for a while. On one of them, Wow was available once, but it ended quickly, and some users were banned. Is there any virtual game system that is acceptable to blizzard ??

Now… why would you use a Virtual-machine for an MMORPG…?

Because when I use a company laptop, it is the only chance to bypass the formal security features for the xD game.

plenty of reasons actually, but i believe the OP is referring to cloud gaming platforms, which is ehh… a bit different, even though it involves virtualization.

probably has to do with their (blizzard’s) stance and policy on input broadcasting. who knows :man_shrugging:

You mean… the same input broadcasting as Multiboxers…?

If so, y’lot do know that it’s against ToS, ofcourse using third party programs TO bot and can ban you, unless you’re doing it manually, then, thats fine I guess…? Scummy, but not too harmful.

No many systems support cloud based or streamed gaming , Blizzard are a bit behind the times with this.

Steam for example allows you to stream from your own PC to an machine that has the Steam client. I’ve just been playing Doom Eternal on a potato PC at work (lunch time) using this system (Steam is on some of our teaching machines) . I’d love to do my callings like this but Blizzard has warned people against it and I am a good boy.

Cloud and the whole ‘you don’t know what is on the machine’ line they give is rather weak too as an reason not too.

It is an interesting area that will grow, ‘platformless’ gaming is a big thing and will just get bigger. Play a game on your phone in the car (not driving) walk into house ‘push it’ on to TV/console/PC with a small gap and continue, want to go upstairs - move it seamlessly with minimal impact.

I know wow was available on GEForce Now for a short time, I have been playing this game since 2009 and it would be incredibly convenient to play in the cloud so I am looking for an answer.

Blizzards current stance is ‘no’ you can’t. Well you can but you risk your account.

From a different thread

Man, I used to run WoW in 2008 on a toaster of a computer, and now I’m running it on a budget gaming laptop. It can run on anything as long as it’s not still a toaster computer (gotta keep up with the graphics).

Like Naxxos said, if you’re planning on using a virtual machine to use a sort of third-party program to gain access to multiboxing at a press of one button, then don’t be surprised if Blizzard bans your account.

BUT if you’re doing it manually, as in changing between WoW instances, then thats fine, it’s more of a hassle for certain players, but they got used to it.

I think you misunderstand (or maybe I do) he is referring to virtual platforms not multiboxing. Cloud and streamed platforms are outlawed by blizzard regardless of what you do on them.

None unfortunately, you cant even use TeamViewer.

It’s to combat people who use farms for the game(Botting) and what not

The main reason is that you can run a bot on another computer and control it via teamviewer, realvnc or similar programs and Blizzard anti-cheat software cannot detect it. So they ban the remote software.
