WoW open world scaling is a joke

By removing levelling options?

what do you mean? what levelling options are removed, you can go anywhere and do anything and have mobs of the appropriate level for xp.
Whats removed?

Exactly. One can’t opt out of the scaling and go for a different levelling experience resembling the old ways where the different zones actually have different levels.

Scaling should be optional - an option. Even be the default option. But there should be other options too.

what’s so great about enemies being too high or too low?

Just because you don’t enjoy a non-scaled levelling experience it should be removed? I understand that you egocentric minds wants content that only caters to you, but you are incapable of recognising that other players have other preferences and might go for different options than you.

If WoW were to be developed to only suit you, it wouldn’t be much of a game for everyone else.

I understand you’re some kind of triggered dude, but I was asking a question, maybe answer it instead of throwing out pointless, baseless accusations

It was pointed to every self-centric who’s opinion is that scaling is the best and everyone who wants more options are wrong.

Having red level and green level zones enables both challenges and stomping grounds, giving players further options for how they want to play in terms of difficulty. It also enables actual “don’t go there”-dangers in the world.

i wish the scaling was a toggle to be honest so i could turn it off :stuck_out_tongue: but i’ve said the same thing about CRZ in the past it’s ok when your leveling but once you hit max level i want the option to turn it off

It’s very simple - mobs that are too high become lower relative to you as you play, giving a feeling that your character becomes stronger. That’s fun.

Then new enemies are too hard for you because they’re even more badass and dangerous. But you already grew, and you can do so again.

That’s why RPG’s have experience bars in the first place.

oh rly…

Ya rly. There’s literally no reason to have an experience bar other than to give the player character growth.

hahahah ok bud

Weren’t you for scaling back when it was added or am I just getting older and mixing people up on the forums?

Dont get me wrong opinions are allowed to be changed.

Alright, come up with another reason then.

there are many, but just to name one, learning to play class with skills given over time.
If you really think there’s only one reason I just can’t help but haha at you

And what, pray tell, is being given skills over time?

I wouldn’t mind scaling if it made sense, but my level 60 spell rotation against grey mobs in BfA taking twice as long as a level 12 player wanding the same mobs to death with zero effort? Nope. It’s not good.

Exactly. The game becomes more complicated and difficult against the same enemy. That’s not progression, it’s regression.

While it’s true that it can act as a kind of 15 hour long tutorial, it isn’t satisfying whatsoever, and it’s not a good reason to add an XP bar.

Like… I know gaming companies are adding XP bars to literally everything these days and it unlocks appearances or whatever, but I really opposite it. It just completely misses the point of those genres. I’ve seen exceptions but they’re very rare. One such exception is Warcraft 3 which makes hero units that gain XP - but in that case it, once again, is because the hero grows in power.

Pros:

  • It enables non-linear questing.
  • It enables people of different levels to play together.

Cons:

  • Certain items scale way too strongly (e.g. legacy items with 3 sockets, legacy enchants), which ruins PvP and the new Mage Tower.
  • You might feel weaker against open world mobs as you approach the max level.

Personally, I think the open world mob scaling issue as one approaches the max level is a very minor problem and the pros outweigh it. One can gear up very quickly at max level, so this issue is really just a temporary inconvenience. When you hit max level and you prefer doing open world and questing stuff, just do some WQs, do the covenant campaign to get your armor set, and soon you’ll feel a lot stronger against the mobs than you did before.

The PvP and Mage Tower scaling issues are a much bigger problem, in my opinion.

what pray tell is this sentance xd
you get skills as you levl up and have time to learn to play with em (granted it’s hardly needed cuz this game is so easy a 2year old can do top dmg)
