That last part is not true in the end-game, but it is in the levelling game for sure.
That sentence is a question.
Why not just give me all the skills and suggest I only drag a few down at a time? If I’m not supposed to get stronger I might as well start out as strong as I’ll ever get and then get eased into it without hindering me, right?
The reason why you acquire skills instead of being at maximum strength in the beginning is to get a sense of power growth.
I literally can’t think of one. The one you gave is very weak because it’s actually supposed to be power growth - gaining skills. That was what the question was about.
It would have been power growth if not for the scaling.
why would I bother, you will disagree again for reasons. You ask for one more, there’s dozens more, one could disagree with all of them, but to deny their existence is haha worthy
I do think it allows people to see a whole zone story although it makes the expansion/overal story more disjointed than ever as you can hop all over the place to level. As someone who has levelled each expansion and has an army of alts, I don’t feel there is really a way to re-live how the game feels from when it’s current content. It has given players more ways to vary their levelling journey and the same can be said for Chromie time though I personally rarely stick to one expansion.
Scaling does have some advantages like you can be different levels but play with your friend regardless. We since have party sync which is also a great development on that front if you just want to play with your mates.
I can’t remember ever being in favour of scaling in the sense that we are the same strength at level 12 or 45 fighting a mob. I think someone worked out it’s the same number of attacks to kill a mob no matter what level you are. I don’t know if other games handle scaling better when it comes to not making combat monotonous.
People are all different, that’s always been a thing with WoW. For example I absolutely LOVED levelling alts in the peace and quiet on my own realm. However others felt all alone and Cross Realm Zones were introduced.
