If u kil mythic Nzoth and dont have BiS Armour. you arent losing. so the fact someones getting gear aswell doesnt change the achievement of both players getting CE Nzoth.
the gear factor is irrelevent to me entirely, Did someone show a good level of skill unlike the other Yes. but it doesnt change the End goal.
both players can get CE Nzoth. the difference is ones getting gear prioritized to him and the others expected to abide by a guilds loot rules.
If i set my mind to it. im sure I’d be likely capable of getting a Heroic Nzoth kill in a Week i’d maybe have to break my head against a Wall for abit to rush a Raid down in a Week. but its Perfectly plausible.
so a player being able to use gold to clear heroic nzoth in the same week as me isnt really Paying to win. He simply just didnt have to break his head on a Wall learning every fight to get a clear as quickly as he did.

Because a lot of people are fine with buying mounts, as they fall under the cosmetic umbrella. While the most accepted definition involves buying power, regardless if you can obtain that power through other means.

This was HUGELY deemed P2W by a certain population of the game… While others shrugged it off without a second thought.
Paying to Win. is when your effectively gaining a Advantage. and What a player considers a Advantage is a Opinon.

to a Collector selling mounts/pets/toys for RL Value would be massively p2w.

The point is that if anyone can call P2W anything they don’t like and there is no agreement on what pay 2 win is, that means the term itself is completely meaningless and as long as someone disagrees nothing is P2W.
So either people have been arguing about nothing for decades and turn against many games for no reason or it’s not as subjective as you think it is.
