WoW - pay to win like never before

Blizzard finally gave us a meaningful profession system… That was made way too complex, extremely favors the most "“dedicated” players and everything that is meaningful is time gated so you better not experiment and read a guide.

This system allows us to craft 418 BiS gear from the start of the expansion and we have another system that allows us to order Bind on pick up gear… For gold.

Now since the start of the expansion I have seen that 418 gear is around 80K… Without gems, enchants etc.

We also have perfectly balanced dungeons that incentifies people to use philes, potions and every other consumable in the game… Which are at all time high prices

As a person that doesn’t have millions of gold I feel forced to purchase gold from blizzard… Not that I will give them the 20 EU, however I don’t remember another expansion where gear progression was so tightly linked to the amount of gold that the player has and gear progression in wow has direct correlation to end game content…

Am I going crazy or WoW has finally become a mobile game?

Yes. You always had to grind for player power, the only difference is now (and in SL legendaries) you have to grind some gold instead.

LW public orders are placed for around 500G, including those with primal focus and are completed within minutes.

The most important reason of this is boosting ingame. Everything is expensive because its somehow under controll of bots with golds and at least whales. They will need remove token or make gear free for all from quests and don’t make sets etc. In that point it will be about skill …but it will still not stop the problems what we have now fully.

Game is on the finish line to become completely similar to any mobile game.

The thing is, you don’t have to pay for any of it.

You can collect all of the materials by yourself. You can level up the Profession by yourself and you can craft it by yourself.

You can use the same argument for the biggest p2w games.
It’s not that you can’t…it’s that you’ll be grinding yourself to death rather than paying.

I don’t mind the grind, I still play D2…
The issue that I have is that Blizzard is controlling the gold market and gear has shifted from grinding raids and dungeons to grinding gold, which you could also buy from blizzard… This is Pay to win on top of game purchase and subscription fee

So what you’re suggesting is Pay to Skip. Not Pay to Win.

Can you just imagine how many more threads like this will appear, if/when WoW goes Free 2 Play?

There is a very thin line between pay to skip. Which Blizzard is seriously crossing already. If only because there aren’t many ways to realistically grind golds in the game without having to really track and adapt to those ways a lot. If someone wants to play the game instead of work I don’t buy it. But we’re slowly getting to the stage where even the best players are limited by the game and forced to buy just because the content is locked behind rng mechanics for example…I know a lot of people who were on top of Rio and raid last datadisc and now because they don’t get to drop a set or go ten mythics in a row and drop one single thing they’re completely useless…

You don’t need to buy tokens to buy those 3 crafted items, stop making up nonsense please. The only remotely p2w aspect would be buying boosts and those have been around for decades.

But the point is the only reason you feel this feature is Pay to Win, is because you don’t want to do the content of the game.

I’m having more fun doing my Professions at the moment, than I am in M+ or Raiding.

And it’s not as if gold is difficult to make. I’ve made 2.5 million today alone. So it’s not going to break the bank paying someone for their time levelling up their craft. I’ll just pay for it with the money I made from levelling up my own.

Buying a boost doesn’t really feel like paytowin to me. I’ve met so many boosted characters in mythic+ or raid who were spinning DPS less than anyone on normal, Rather, it destroys the economics of the game.

Ok, how did you made 2.5 mil… I have 120K on my main with skinning and and leather working(bows)

How do you win wow? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:
It is a game
To have fun and realx
Okay, you buy stuff to skip the “grind”, - tho’ not from Blizzard, from other players - be it crafting materials or boost or something
Not really matter, since the game built you only could have a fleeting momentary advantage over… who exactly?
What do you gain by doing a M25+? Nothing really aside your personal satisfaction, 'I did it!"
No one cares how you got your gear, score, tittles, achivements, mounts, just you!
PvP? Boost and gear never replace skill… and why people PvP? Because they like it, I presume
Not for some reward, fame and glory, because, again, aside you no one cares
World First? Or Esport?
Face it, both are jokes and 99.99% of the players are unefected
So again… how do you win wow?
Why do you want to win wow?

Not to mention that there’s no general definition of “winning” in WoW so threads like this are utterly pointless. P2W is when you can open your wallet, buy a big fkin sword and blap everyone else.

These “wow is p2w because flasks are expensive” kind of threads are a bit far fetched…

I think legendaries from previous expansion were far worse.

So pay to progress?
And winning in wow is achieving progress… Normal/heroic raid for most people that play because of raiding is the winning point.
For Mythic it’s similar, get the key master achievements and you have won.

The game has you at a disadvantage because of poor balance of classes, content and gear distribution, which can be mitigated by purchasing in game currency for real money.

Rerolling to a favor of the month class is something that I don’t like and even then 95% of the content that you have already progressed on is not account wide, but you buy game time so it’s okay…

Its not p2w tbh, you can easily farm gold tbh certainly in df

its getting close. but the acutal gameplay is decent still.
