I’m not going to try to engage with the whole argument, beyond saying that in general, I think you are assuming things should work more simply than they actually do. You have lots of company there. I do like Sandsh’s answers.

However, I very specifically want to flag up the difference between the rest of the world, and China. In China, the transactions side of WoW is operated by NetEase, not Blizzard, and as I have read it, the payment mix and gaming culture is very different, such that not everyone has to have a subscription, with shorter options also available. This makes it dubious to make direct comparisons with othe countries.

One word explains the price difference and it is taxes. For example in EU the rate is 15-27%, Uk is 20% and AU is like 10%. So EU and UK players have to pay more for Blizzard to make the same amount of profit.

Standard of living (which may differ in each country), you’re being charged based on what Blizzard think you can afford.

There isn’t anything nefarious about it.

As far as I know Turkish people used to buy accounts as if it is a Russian account, which means for much cheaper prices… in the past. I don’t know if Blizzard fixed that loophole currently.

Comparing token prices from different regions is meaningless.

Each region has it’s own economy so it’s to be expected that token prices will vary.

It has to do with people countries average income, maybe the average income in China is let say 100 dollars and hypothetical speaking the average income in USA is 200 dollars than both have to pay 10% of their income.

The internet in Bulgaria is one of the most fastest and it just cost ~10$ per month. 10$ more for your cable TV. Its doable to cut ~20 more for your game-time in WoW + token. And you dont need to pay for Netflix or other things cuz you can download everything from the free torrents in HD (cracked games, new movies, whatever you want).
