Hey. Token price is out of hand. It is 400k in EU. It is for many months now. At this point it is not worth subbing in from gold. This directly impacts subs as well.
Back in Shadowlands and BFA I was permanently subscribed. Token was around 200-250k or so and during these expansions it was a lot easier to make gold due to mission table. Not only that token price was almost half but getting gold was a lot easier. There was a lot more ways to get raw gold. Callings/mission table/paragon reputation grind etc.
For Dragonflight they removed mission table also callings and instead of 4000 gold the paragon reputation box only gives 1000 gold. With all these changes raw gold generation got hit and players that were previously playing from gold can no longer do it or they have to farm all day to justify the token price which is obvoiusly not an option. Nobody has the time to do gold WQs and dragon riding purse on 10 alts just to get the targeted gold. Also crafts is a joke. 90% of the crafts are losing gold and literally better to sell the materials in AH than craft yourself.
Token purchase restrictions: I think during Shadowlands they removed the restrictions. Previously there was a cap on how many tokens you could buy from gold. I think this was something like 24-30 tokens every 12 months or so. Something like this needs to come back.
People RMT their gold with token. They gift games to people that is how they sell their gold. They mass purchase token from AH with gold and sell games like D4. Restrict the gifting even more. Increase the 3 days that you have to be friend with someone in order to be able to gift games to couple months or just get rid of it as a whole. Don’t allow game gifting. This would alone stabilize the token price.
However I think using gold to buy token and purchase battle.net games for YOURSELF is fine and should stay. I bought tokens from my gold and turned into battle.net balance and bought D4 and WoW expansions for myself which is good and many people do this (this is allowed). They only need to restrict gifting so people can’t sell their gold that way.
Also if you think about it the token is 300K in NA but 400k in EU. You can argue that they have different market and that is true but the raw gold generation is the same. Every world quest every cache dragon riding race purse gives the same amount of gold in EU as well as in NA but the cost of token is 300k vs 400k so that is not fair either.
I’m tired of people selling their gold with gifting games and destroying the token price. Making people less and less viable to play from gold. We are already at Legion token price but in Legion it was ridiculously easy to make gold with mission table. Bring back restrictions so people can’t infinitely buy tokens from AH with gold and destroy the token price not allowing legit players to sub with their gold.
Edit: This topic was moved from another section to here. Sadly I can’t post due to I have no sub at the moment.
I’m not proposing a gold sink. There is an RMT problem which takes token out of the game and people that actually wants to use it to resub can’t because the price is kept high due to people massively selling their gold via gifting games. I want this issue adressed by Blizzard. I did not open this to be an open discussion. I want to bring awareness to this issue.
Secondly. there is no cap on how many tokens you can buy with gold only how many you can buy from money but that is not my point.
Point is: token price (gold) is high due to people buying token with gold from AH turn into balance and sell games for real money via gifting. This is a system abuse. That is why I’m proposing to restrict gifting games. They won’t even get banned because all blizzard see is that someone gifts a game to his friend who is not even his friend only invited to friend to be eligible for gifting the game.
If you block people from gifting games they won’t be able to sell their gold. They won’t buy up all the tokens so token price will go down as it should be. RMTers taking the token out of the game. This needs to stop.
Edit2: I still don’t have sub currently and I can’t comment below so this is all I can communicate with ya all. So sad that this turned into a flame fest. All of you did not understand the meaning of this topic and just fight about the game being bad. The main point of this topic is that token price is driven up by gold sellers who sell the gold via gifting games and nobody understood it.
Don’t tell me how supply and demand works. I don’t care. I don’t care what you think of why token price is high none of those are the real reason. Gold sellers have the highest demand for token and that is why its expensive as hell.
