Unfortunately Ion have been a bit condescending about certain topics which haven’t exactly helped his image.
Woah boy, can’t wait until MoP 3.0.
BFA was meant to be the current writers big take on faction wars with the “4th war” and it was, frankly, outright terrible. Asking for it to continue and expecting something better to magically appear is either desperate or stubborn.
Until this BlizzCon I couldn’t stand Ion. He kept doing horrible things to the game I like the most.
He has kind of redeemed himself with what I heard at BlizzCon but I’m never going to like any of the Q&A (or AMA) format.
That may be so, but the statement that Anduin made happened just before the final siege against the gates of Orgrimmar, which makes it the latest credible source. And yeah, both factions lost a lot, which is why I don’t personally believe that any has any advantage over the other.
Saurfang and Sylvanas don’t matter. What matters is that the entire Horde was ruined and villainized and irreparably damaged.
I don’t think it’s possible anymore. Not without more bad and nonsensical writing. Ah, this BfA…
Well… The Horde is united now, just no more warlord as a leader.
I think we will just agree to differ on that one.
This isn’t our first rodeo being the bad guys. I hated Garrosh from the moment he was appointed. However, we don’t get to elect our Warchief and we just go with the flow. I hardly think it ruins the Horde now or forever, but everyone is different.
On the contrary I think it’s the perfect time to bring unity back to the Horde. The writing really can’t get any worse … I hope.
I’ll conced that point to you. I guess what I want is true conflict, rather than BFA writing, although I am unsure if we’ll ever go back to good writing.
Let’s just use any of the other bosses then, Ragnaros, Nefarian, Kel’thuzad, Kael’thas, and so on. Although many of them were canologically killed by faction leaders or NPCs, many of them were still slain without the need of the other faction.
Honestly, I get you. If a faction war expansion was as BFA was advertised to be, it would actually be enjoyable.
I just do not want a repeat of “Horde being dumb, Alliance have to save them from themselves.” story line for the 3rd time. I, like Araphant, will take Peacecraft over having to go through that again.
So you’re fine with the Horde being an evil flock of mindless sheep following genocidal maniacs and only turning their backs on them when they turn on them while being absolved of all crimes done under the warchief and suffering zero consequences whatsoever? I guess we really do differ in that regard.
“I was just going with the flow and following orders” doesnt really hold water second time in a row unfortunately. The first time? Maybe. But the second time? I don’t think so.
Can’t get any worse? I wouldn’t bet on that personally, seeing as these writers thought that BfA would be a smashing bestseller of a story. Shadowlands itself is already shaping up to be a bad fan-fiction level of writing unfortunately.
We’ll see what happens, but after BfA, I don’t hold any hope personally. I can’t help but think that whatever they do, we will end up disappointed.
Yes, I’ll agree on that one as well. I’d rather have Peacecraft, than MoP 3.0. But my ideal interaction between alliance and horde would differ quite a bit from Peacecraft.
That is not what I said.
Fair enough, I might have misread. However, just because the Horde were portrayed as morons before doesn’t mean that it’s justifiable or that they should continue to be portrayed as such in the future.
I’m really struggling to see how this current Horde can hold itself together after all of this.
Don’t really cared about faction war after Warcraft 3 tbh.
Speaking of: Have a quote, and a laugh. Or tears.
Alex Afrasiabi: We feel the Alliance-Horde divide is foundational and fundamental to World of Warcraft as a franchise and as a story, but we danced around it for a very long time. We’ve had run-ins, we’ve had close calls, but we’ve never been able to finish it—to have that resolution. We’re coming out of this expansion, Legion, and the world is not in a great place—the players and the factions themselves are not in a great place because there is all of this old animosity that hasn’t been resolved. It’s time to resolve it.
I’ve re-linked that one in the story forums a few weeks ago already. But it’s always good for a chuckle!
I guess this is Afrasiabi being disconnected from the rest of the story team, like in Cata?
Who knows?
I personally like what he pitched more than what was ultimately delivered either way, both in Cata and here. Alas!
“We have suffered many losses in this war. Peace is the only answer throws a Gnome at Tauren”
“Ow! What did you do that for?”
“Don’t worry, there’s more where that came from! pulls another Gnome freshly cloned out of a machine and throws it as well”
This war was useless and boring… it was not even the core theme of expansion. I was dealing with savage trolls and klepto furries more than fighting my enemy. We didn’t kill anyone meaningful… like WTF.
4000 votes from millions of players .
I rather they try and mend whats broken on alliance . But factions are core of the game and have to remain so.
Bunch servers together. And maybe merc PVE mode but do not mix .
It’s bit more than that now but I get your point. However, for /wow-reddit standards is this more than when a new cinematic is being linked and upvoted. Just think about it for a second.
