So I use a VPN at home, Simply for extra security nothing weird or anything to do with any game or anything, Simply as an extra layer of security against various creeps on the net, DDoS, Info snooping etc… I connect to the closest option to me with is only 40 miles away but still in the same country, Again I do this simply for an extra layer of security but I read in a few places that Blizzard can ban you for using a VPN for whatever reason, As of today I now turn off the VPN before launching WoW as my WoW account is 12+ years old and I have multiple years invested into it so don’t want to lose anything.
I don’t think Blizzard cares. It’s more about the extra risk you take on, potentially getting temporarily blocked (and thus inconvenienced) through no fault of your own.
It’s likely no suprise to you that the more shady “players” (think botters and the like) are also likely to use a VPN. If they happen to be doing nefarious stuff (often with many simultaneous wow clients) from the same IP address as you (because they happen to use the same VPN provider/exitnode), then your account may end up being blocked alongside of theirs.
Now if that were to happen you’ll likely be back on your feet soon after you’ve managed to talk to a support person, but it can still be terribly inconvenient.
I think that’s one of the main reasons that Blizzard says they “do not support” VPNs. But i’ve never heard of anyone getting flack (let alone worse) from Blizzard just for using a VPN, many players do.
Appreciated thank you, I won’t hold my breath but I’d love to hear from an actual person at Blizz about this, All my account activity is grinding old raids for transmogs and mounts with the occasional levelling

Yea i get not wanting to risk your account of course There’s really nothing to worry about in this case though i’d say.
Thank you for the link, I have a physical authenticator and SMS enabled on my account as per the Blues recommendations in that post for extra safety and have done for a long time, Was just concerned about the use of a VPN, To be on the safe side I’ll keep it disabled before I use any Blizzard services
