Hello,
I have a problem with my WoW files. After I logged out of the game to make a break (leaving my battle.net app turned on and logged in). I came back to play again after some minutes, and got the “connecting” icon in the top right corner. It connected with no problem (i thought it was my internet connection break).
Then my WoW retail got an update initialization, and after it finished I tried to play, but when I launched retail, it launched Classic instead. Turned out it changed my WoW.exe in the installation folder to WoWClassic.exe.
Without my ingerention in the files…
I tried scanning and repairing, nothing. Then I deleted the WoWClassic.exe from _retail folder and scanned and repaired again, and the app downloaded WoWClassic.exe again…
Now in battle.net app I have both my WoW retail and classic game versions 1.13…
What can I do to revert it without deleting and reinstalling the whole game?
Someone got a similar problem?
Edit: It seems after I loged out from battle.net app and logged in again, the Launcher started automatically downloading all retail files again - over 60GB (like the game wasn’t installed) so I just have to wait.

Exact the same problem happened this morning after a strange patch applied to the retail. Cannot find the wow_retail.exe anywhere and even the repair tool cannot save me.
Tried restart the launcher but nothing good.
Now gonna restart PC and try again.
Hope it does not require a re-downloading cause it is so boring.

Well, it started automatically re-downloading the whole game to me… 60 GB… Even though I had all the files in the installation folder only except WoW.exe…
It took me a bit over 8 hours, because of the extended usage of net transfer for the whole school from home…

For me it’s not even start to download the game again. I uninstalled Classic, but it keeps running it. Relog in Bnet, scan and repair didn’t help even.

I’ve taken a break from Warcraft for a little while (only about a month or so) and have had this exact same problem, now, in July.
The files in both retail and classic folders had somehow reverted to being classic - although when i went to add or remove programs it showed retail still existed on the machine.
I tried uninstalling the “retail” and redownloading it, but it refused to start downloading. Eventually, sick of this I uninstalled Classic as well.
I reinstalled retail, in the World of Warcraft folder where it would let me, and now it has finished its installation it has showed up in the “classic” folder within World of Warcraft - meaning all my addons have been left in the wrong folder and inaccessible to the game.
What possible course of action should I take in this instance? Is this going to require me to separate “classic” to a SEPARATE World of Warcraft directory to ensure this doesn’t happen again?
Why is your downloading automatically screwing with peoples hard drives and making these games unplayable with a LONG download?
An answer from someone at Blizzard would be HIGHLY appreciated.
Where exactly is your game installed?
