I can’t be the only one noticing that there seems to be a good amount of ‘wrong’ sounds/dialogue in MoP Classic. This patch is supposed to be 5.0, but there’s a lot of 5.4 related sounds/dialogue.
Valley of Four Winds, Ashyo’s Vision questline, the dialogue doesn’t match to 5.0, he talks as if the destruction of the Vale has happened as in 5.4.
Temple of the White Tiger/Vale Gate questline has the 5.4 dialogue as if the Vale is already destroyed.
Vale of Eternal Blossoms even has the Sound Effects + Music of patch 5.4. You can hear the Sha sound effects and also the music is that of when the Vale is destroyed.
It’s very immersion-breaking and quite jarring as this stuff doesn’t make sense. It’s great that we get to experience this expansion from the start again, but these assets not matching to the condition of the patch that this is supposed to be replicating is quite disappointing.
Technically, it’s patch 5.5.0, so we’re beyond 5.4. I think (as with past expansions) they took the latest patch and adapted it for Classic. I don’t think this will change, even the marketing on social media talks as if the Timeless Isles have already been released.
I feel like this is quite a fundamental issue if you’re trying to sell the whole ‘Classic era’.
The Timeless Isle social media posts are due to cuts being made at Blizzard and a new agency team being put in place that’s completely tone-deaf, out of touch and has no interest in the game itself.
I’m not going to let Microsoft’s bad decisions cloud any faith in Blizzard potentially making amends to these issues just yet, but then again, on Reddit, I’ve been told countless historical issues similar to this have never been fixed.
Extremely disappointing as I know myself and many other people fell in love with MoP for the aesthetic and level of immersion.
We NEED to complain about/highlight this more. This is probably the most disappointing thing about this launch. I was really looking forward to experiencing Pandaria as it released but this whole thing has soured that experience a lot. Especially everything related to the Vale.
It’s not too late for Blizzard to push a hotfix to fix this, but we need to actually draw attention to it.
I do hope we can bring at least some acknowledgement by Blizz to this.
It’s good to see there’s more than enough people affected by this. The immersion and feel of Pandaria contributes to the expansion just as much as the mechanics.
I personally never got to experience the Vale fully uncorrupted/unexcavated, it made me really wish I could see it that way, and to finally have it officially and it be completely skewed is quite devastating.
The lack of thoroughness and the bare-minimal attention to this is disappointing.
