WTF? Emissary drops 2h-int-mace for resto shaman!

Especially considering how tight the spec-based loot drop rules usually are, this came totally unexpectedly.
Zandalari emissary dropped a 2h-int-mace for my resto shaman. (Spec and loot pref both resto.)
Since when does armor not matter, Blizzard? Why not drop cloth robes for paladins then?
Resto shaman spec-based should be 1h-int mace or axe and shield. I am losing so much armor when not using a shield.

Dude what are u talking about?
Can shaman use 2h mace? Yes
Is his main stat same as on weapon (int)? Yes
I see no problem here, ofc its not perfect, but since when we get from random emissary rewars bis right?

Dude, you don’t know how spec-based loot works. Check some dungeon loot tables. It’s the same logic also used for warfront random drops. If you’re a rogue in subtlety spec, you won’t see agi maces drop.
This has nothing to do with best-in-slot.

Soo u wanna tell me that shaman doesnt have 2hand intel wep in loot table? Like a staff for example? Because if u think so we have nothing to talk about.
U dont see 2h maces in your loottable just because there are none or very very few

You should not go for armor on a non-tank character. There is very little reasons to. If you play a healer spec expect any healer weapon and not 1h caster tank weapon.

Wow, you’re right. Seems Blizzard scrapped the idea of armor boost for shamans.
(I didn’t maxlevel a shaman before, but with no other class did I notice this. This is a break from the norm, like as I mentioned with rogues. Outlaw rogues can use daggers perfectly fine, can’t they? Then why only sword, maces, axes and fist weapons on the loot tables?)

Besides, personal loot means no possible conflict or added benefit from non-ideal weapon types. If you down a boss, there is not need to drop a staff for a shaman because it could roll with an equally fair chance a 1h or shield. (Possibly higher because 1h, if that’s how it generally works.)

And paladins don’t have such oddities on the loot table, but probably because dungeons don’t drop those weird int 2h-maces.

Anyone gotten such an emissary weapon on a holy pala?

BTW it’s laughable to say armor doesn’t matter for classes except tanks. Especially the more ambitious gameplay gets, the more crucial it becomes. That’s why all that detailed stuff like buff consumables exist.

With or without shield the armor mitigation difference on my alt is roughly from 45% to 34%.

The loot rules aren’t “smart” - many specs can use 2h as well as 1h + offhand so it may happen you get an offhand item + 2h weapon and alike.

I got an off hand from the new raid, first time I’ve seen an off hand drop. I think I also got that 2H it’s haste mastery right? It’s vendored

They can get them from wq, pvp quests etc i guess, not in dungeons tho, no idea about raids tho…

Tons of shamans playing with staffs, and outside of pvp it doesnt realy matter.

No idea man never played rogue after wotlk

And Honorbound emissary rewards are from a proper class-optimized set, so no risk there. Makes me wonder why Blizzard adds stuff to the other emissary loot tables that defies their class makeup.

Again, if you join an LFR with a cloth wearing pala, you probably get booted. Even though you could say, hey, this was available and Blizzard says armor doesn’t matter for healers.

Maybe honorbound just dont use 2h int mace at all? There is a little bit of fantasy after all… At least on wep skin u can see where it comes from ( all those dino maces and axes from zuldazar for example, or different anchor symbols on kultirans weps etc…) if this faction doesnt use thst type of wep, u wont get it

Holy paladin’s artifact weapon was a 2H mace.

It is totally normal for healers/casters to use 2H int weapon.

And in fact, Blizzard shall just remove mainhand or offhand restriction. It is totally retarded when you need a offhand, but the emissary chest always reward you a 1h int wand/dagger/mace/sword/axe and vice versa.

Every caster should be able to dual weld 1h weapon, just like melee.

And the only weapon restricted to offhand should be shield.

Staves are in the loot table so 2h maces should be as well.

To be honest, in my opinion offhand items should be in the loot table for resto / ele shamans and holy paladins just as they are for mages / warlocks and I find it stupid to have staves in the loot table for shamans, but no offhand items. Make your choice Blizzard, does armor matter for casters, or not?

Armor does matter in some situations, especially in pvp, but for both dps and hps, it is mostly irrelevant, I’ve used the Stormtamer’s Orb for a large part of our Azshara progress on my ele, since it was the offhand that awarded me with the most dps, without the need of titanforge and well, the Great Reef Barrier simply did not drop until very late.

I never died once due to the lack of armor, I might add.

In general, the only issue at hand regarding this topic is the inconsistency. Why are no offhands on the loottable for ele / restoshaman, but staves, and apparently 2h maces are? It’s exactly the same to play Staff or MH + OH, unless your OH is a shield.

When given the choice, a player would obviously always pick MH + Shield, but if a staff (Azshara staff as an example) gives you insane dps gain for let’s say an m+, you’ll always want to use what benefits you the most regarding your important stats, aka dps and hps. If there was no shield available in the raid with my main stats, but an offhand was, I’d expect the people who are able to trade it to me to do so, even if it isn’t on the loottable for ele, for whatever reason.

Putting Int Staves + 2 H Maces on Ele / Restoshaman loottable is fine, but keep it consistent and put Held in offhand Items there as well, or remove staves and 2h int maces, because armor matters. Don’t just cheap out and go with the 50/50 split, that’s my 5 cents.

Meanwhile in the alliance we’re still waiting for that weapon emissary…
