Did WW mink dmg get backdoor nerfed? Feel like it’s right in the middle of the melee pack in terms of dmg.
Almost no tools to help carry the game and make an impact. Feels weird atm
No, but ww Scales bad with gear, while other classes scale better
when everyone had full honor gear, or half conquest, half honor, ww was insane
i went up to 2.650 mmr in shuffle as ww, made a stop for some weeks, qued up again with full conquest gear, and lost everything until 2.4 and i noticed, that it felt “worse”
WW dmg is the same, however meta changes do affect it
As an example, buffs to any Plate classes or rise in their popularity, as well as rise to Mage popularity, is an indirect nerf to WW
In the current meta of arena, WW is indeed strong, but is oftentimes overshadowed by specs with better uptime like DH and Rogue, which also have more CC
That in combination to the spec being hard countered by any Paladin and Mage spec does reduce the popularity by quite a bit
I still enjoy playing my WW, but some matchups are just onesided and completely boring, where you just sit 50 CCs consecutively and pray to god your healer finds that golden dispel button during Serenity
I’ve picked my monk back up, no means high rated but pushing 2.1 after a couple of weeks (not played the monk this xpac, and sub optimal talents to sort of keep the trend of TWW talents) and honestly, I’m CC’d 40% of the entire CC in a game usually haha

and tools to control pet classes
with the simplest dps rotation in the entire game tied with bm hunter
it just didn’t scale good with gear and has no real kill potential, but any buffs would result in it being completely obnoxious
I like how you make ‘"no real kill potential’ sound like some casual small thing, when in fact the spec has slid into B tier, has only arms/DH as truly viable comps (but both of them prefer other specs), it absolutely has bad lobbies (any combination of ret, dh, rogue, uhdk and hpriest slaps ele around with constant FS dispell), the spec has among the weakest bursts in the game, one cc ability, and can"t outplay or carry any lobby unless double casters.
It relies on dps partner and healer to pull their weight and bring games not only to deep damp, but to make enemy healer completely oom.
You obviously have a bias against the spec because I would bet any lock spec and especially boomkin are more obnoxious casters to fight against.
The damage is the biggest pad damage in the game and easily healed up (unlike on my MM where the burst profile followed up with CC and healing reduction is much harder to recover from).
Even Jamie and Swapxy said ele wouldn’t be viable without 4 set bonus. Swapxy has actually abandoned retail and plays Cata, where ele is considered super mid.
All of ele casted damage is super nerfed in PvP for no reason after the crit changes.
It is kind of sadge really…but it is what it is. Let’s hope next week on beta they rework it into smth healthier.
P.S. even tho they said next week there are big shaman changes, just to paint a picture how dire the situation is, they buffed ALL ele damage on beta by 30% an hour ago. When I was testing some skirms and duels, LvB was hitting 300k max on 8 million hp targets lmao.
Btw I am not writing this to pick a fight with you, but your disdain for the spec rubs me the wrong way because you are focusing on damage profile (which ele players don"t have a say about and before the current bonus in PvE it was one of the more complex specs) - we have no choice but Lava Lava Lava because nothing else is good).
Just shearing, hexing, purging, grounding and using static while weaving max dps is more skill expression than half the specs in game. You are so obsessed by the dps mechanic as a proof the spec is simple, as if fire or balance are not spamming instants all game, and an aff lock will most probably be top dps every round even with every kick/micro cc thrown at him.
Also, nothing to kick? Amazing, you can save it all for the healer or other, more threatening caster.
So yea, here is to hope that Blizzard gives us a better, more threatening damage profile without a critical reliance to a single dot and 1 ability spam.
Oh I have no disdain with Ele, I actually quite enjoyed playing it this expansion overall, it’s super fun to play.
But I don’t think it’s in a bad spot at all. It has extremely useful utility and a good and easy dmg rotation.
Not every spec has kill potential, a lot of specs are very dampening-oriented this season.
But Ele still has the same comps. It just got cannibalized by Frost mages in terms of its Demo partner in 3s.
It’s not really about Ele being bad, just about some choices being better.
Outlaw Ele used to be a thing, but now Assa is the new hot thing and Affli is simply better with it than Ele is. In a similar way, before the DH nerfs, most Thunder (Ele Warr teams) disbanded because the Eles wanted a DH over an Arms Warrior.
It’s just spec cannibalization due to meta. In fact I will send my Ele boxes once I finish my Affli 2.4 Shuffle challenge in the next few days (yes I am trying to get as many specs as possible to 2.4 in Shuffle)
Well I am eager to see how your ele journey goes.
I am hardstuck on it bouncing between 2.1. and 2.3k. Don"t have time to play normal 3s because my two free nights are reserved for RBG buddies. I have done too many rounds now and lost hope and faith in my skill improvement, and it especiallly feels bad that i am losing without actually dying much. I simply dont know what else to do to carry lobbies. Maybe really trying to prefect peeling and minimising incoming damage? Dunno…
For comparison, I played MM almost casually and reached 2.4k with two green items left, suboptimized stats, 3x times less rounds and not even that many lobbies with mages…and died aprox 10x times more by getting clobbered by double melee…
Dont think Ive had a single shuffle match where if a WW was present, they didnt do top damage… even above Ret and DH but not that much more usually.
Definitely no issue with WW damage if anything it actually does need a nerf.
Ele is just a minmax class.
For Shuffle specifically, the key is being as annoying as humanly possible to all your enemies. Constantly hitting and kicking healer, using utility to deny their whole team from playing, etc. Once dampening ramps up, winning is more than possible.
I would apply the same strategy I used for Ret yesterday, where I managed to speedrun it from 2168 to 2414 in a day, getting scores like 4-2 in a Destro / Affli / Devoker lobby simply by playing super lame, waiting for dampening, avoiding as much damage as possible then oneshotting something with my 2nd wings and hoj
I was looking up damage buttons too press for BM and Ele and i found for both 8, then i was looking up DH and idk what build you guys playing but you have a lot of stuff too press how much would you count your rotation with cooldowns?
dh/ret/priest is kinda hard with the spam dispell.
Other than that ye ele is okayish. They are good with DH or arms in 3s.
they should shift some dmg into stormkeeper or something similiar where you have atleast some kind of burst.
right now ele feels like playing m+.
in some lobbies ele can absolutely pump and do insane dmg but nothing crazy crazy like in S1 and ele is also a pretty tanky target meanwhile.
im not the best ele in the game it took me 130 rounds to get 2.4 in shuffle this season on ele but i might be able to help you when you struggle at 2.1. send me a VOD or something and i might see some mistakes you are doing
The usual suspects for losing as Ele are
- not tremoring fears
- not kicking
- not static fielding
- not hitting healer
- bad wall or burrow
I got 2.1k the first weak of season…peaked 2.360 and after that it has been a bounce, but lately I have crashed down to 2.1k after a series of lobbies so weird that it left me scratching my head… Now it feels like a gutter that I can’t claw myself out of…
Like, it is so weird…there is no pattern, no rhyme and reason to some lobbies. I had lobbies with glad players and went 5-1 or even 6-0 (ye I know they were on their alts)…and than I had lobbies where I had like 130k dps every round and got paired with some really questionable players and still went 2-4 or 1-6.
I guess its just Shuffle things…but it feels bad to be able to progress on MM with what I feel is less effort, but to to be stuck on ele where I actually try to do everything right. Maybe I am indeed tryharding too much trying to use all of the utility.
Anyway, gonna stop using this thread as a personal diary now and try to get some VoDs.

I don’t know what goes on at 1700 mmr shuffles, but on normal mmr games you rarely will find these results.
WW is only good if it can near 100-0 in a stun. In one 5s stun you can do 1 rsk (250k crit), 2 hits of FoF for about 160k total and 1 dragon punch for ley’s say 120k. That’s 530k dmg or less than a third of someone’s HP. Regardless to say that’s does not thrill anyone’s soul.
WW has no dots, so consitent normal dmg is easy to deal for any healer.
ye id say focusing on flameshock uptime is really important.
good uptime on kick and hex also does wonders but doing dmg is the most important part.

Think I’ve hit between 500-600k with RSK and fof can do much more damage than that in the stun burst window, infact they both do hit harder than the numbers you mentioned anyway iirc? The issue is being CC’d by every single thing as soon as you press serenity, or any number of micro CCs hah
