I suspect that the OP’s thread was more to trigger a response…and it will, because we all prioritise different things in life.
However bottom line, money is not some mythical item that you gain through osmosis with no effort. It’s not just lying around in great quantities and availability for you to do what you wish with.
In order to have financial stability it takes a hell of a lot of work, of effort, of time investment, of skill. However to me personally, it’s not half as valuable as time, because I have invested the time, the skill, the effort and still do, to retain my profession and my financial viability.
However, it doesn’t matter how successful I am, I cannot buy, manufacture, or gain more time. I can balance it, but no matter what I do I can’t gain more.
So to me it’s simple, I want to do the things I find fun, I want to maximise my time, so I use the resources I have in abundance, money to achieve this.
Yet you better believe, that everything I have bought cost me effort, working 12 hour shifts is not easy, earning money is very rarely fun boys and girls, it’s called work for a reason. Not hobbies, not games, work!.
So while I respect your feelings that things gained in game are worth more to you, others may not see it that way, as the method of attainment will be based on personal and individual preference and needs.
Personally, I’d love to sit on my bottom playing a game all day to get “gud” and achieve all I want in game in the time I have been allotted in my lifetime. However the reality is, unless I win some life changing amount…
Bills got to be paid, shelter got to be paid, we need food on the table and I need to clothe and take care of my son, I accept thems the breaks.
However don’t think that cash shop items come especially easily, yeah spending money isn’t a big effort. However believe me, getting that money always tends to be, for most of the population
