You can just buy a token and convert it to Bnet Balance and buy whatever you want. You can even buy stuff in their other games that way. “But somebody paid money for the token”. So what?? It’s their money they do what they want with it, it in practice means they paid for your Bnet balance since your buying it with gold
Not everyone can sit home all day, and after a long day I much rather just spend money to get a cool mount while I do the stuff I actually want, instead of doing that 1% drop chance every week.
What about the stuff that’s already in the game? People act as everything you can earn looks like garbage which it doesen’t. G.M.O.D in particular
Why is it a problem when you can just buy it all with gold? I want badass armor sets and weapons
As a player who has a plethora of Store Mounts that I have bought with in-game Gold via the method you have described. I will say that there is a lack of feeling of pride when using those mounts.
They just doesn’t feel like you’ve earned them. I mean, sure you earned the Gold, but let be honest, that’s not really hard to do anymore. There’s a lack of sense of working towards them.
The problem isn’t the fact that they’re on the store. It’s the fact that something this good should feel good because you worked hard for it. And there aren’t that many mounts in the game of this kind of quality, and the only ones in Shadowlands of any kind of quality were the KSM mounts… the rest of them a pretty much trashy recolours or slightly adjusted models on old skeletons.
As someone who has those mounts, paid with real money (because most of the mounts ingame don’t catch me really), I have to say I barely use them because they don’t fit my characters looks. But I support your statement. They feel not earned or in any way “special” to me. They are just… There…
To b honest, if i have to cave before eighter, i rather see the shop bng over exploited and the boosters banned than the other way around, picking the least of 2 evils.
That’s exactly why it’s a good thing that you can’t buy it with gold, aka euros, and neither you can buy the book. If you want something cool, earn it instead of swiping dad’s credit card.
I love how this discussion quickly went from “hey, I would pay money for this but it’s not available” to “you’re just lazy, earn it!”
Mage Tower isn’t even about laziness. It’s about not enjoying that gameplay and not wanting to go through the slog - and it is a slog, from my perspective.
I sub for a social, multiplayer game. MT isn’t that. I’d quite like some of the mogs, but I have no intention of spending 10, 20, 30 hours doing a task I don’t want to do in order to get them. Might as well tell me there’s a werebear locked behind ranked PvP; I won’t engage in that either. Doing something unpleasant for a reward is a job, not a game.
I’ll spend months in M+ and raids because I’m just happy to be there with a group; but that fun doesn’t translate into enjoying solo gameplay.
And for that reason (and that I am not short of RL cash) I would be perfectly happy to see these things show up in the shop. Or via M+ achievements. Or from raiding. And if from those, then also from PvP because why not. I don’t honestly care, I just wish they weren’t tucked behind some time-consuming side-game that isn’t actually fun for a lot of players.
Wow token/shop combo is perfect for both sides. People with a job can buy the shop stuff and tokens. Players with time to grind gold can spend it on tokens and shop stuff. Never saw the shop as a problem at all.
Yes, you can indeed buy any and every item in WoW with gold, whether on the store or not, meaning that all prices really should be measured in euros, not gold.
You’re right OP, though following your logic they should make repairs and all the items in every vendors shop cost bnet currency instead of gold. Even all the prices on the AH, bnet balance. I’m sure that will work out well.
You could ask why they didn’t make the transmog, mounts, and everything else cost in game gold instead at vendors so I don’t know there’s more actual gold sinks.
Okay, maybe I went a little over the top. But you can buy gold for money and use the gold for boosts and BoE’s, so unless it’s like the mage tower or something, you can buy it for money.
