It’s by far one of the worst talents in the game. It feels terrible to take a 35% damage hit, and you have to spend a talent point to feel like a beast mastery hunter. It’s just terrible.
Am I missing something here, is there a huge part of the BM Hunter community that are not interested when it comes to having 2 pets out. Personally, I think not. I think they are like the melee hunter enjoyers. Far and few in-between.
Not sure how serious this post actually is, but I’ll bite…
Since, by choosing Animal Companion, you gain 2 pets…each of those 2 pets deal 65% of normal damage with attacks and abilities. This would equate to a total of 130% of normal damage for both pets. But, since the second pet doesn’t use any Basic Attacks(Bite, Claw, Smack), the total is somewhat lower than 130%. It’s closer to around 110-115%. Still, that’s a 10-15% gain to total pet damage, from a single talent point.
That said, I do think that they should rework Animal Companion, so that the question of playing with 1 or 2 pets, that choice is never about considering throughput, but rather, simply a matter of preference towards aesthetics, and personal feel.
I get they do it to balance out the pet damage. However, from a player perspective it feels bad to take the damage hit. When your spec is about making your pets do more. On top of all of this, you have to balance the spec around 2 base lines. To me it just makes their life harder.
That all aside, cause my main point is that. The RPG aspect of being a beast master feels meh. Without 2 pets. It just feels so bad, because it never feels like a choice. If you want to feel like a BM hunter.
That’s the thing, you’re not actually taking a hit to your damage. Sure, your main pet will only deal 65% of normal damage, but in return, you get a second pet which also does the same damage(almost).
They’re not balancing BM around Animal Companion being a second baseline. The baseline is the main pet. Animal Companion is currently meant to be a boost to your baseline.
This depends entirely on who you ask. Some very much dislike the idea of playing with two pets at once. Personally, I prefer two pets, but that’s just me…
Almost all BM hunters love this talent and they always pick it, but I never do it, neither in TWW. Luckily now it’s easier to do without it, especially if you’re not interested in AOE as I only play PVP with my hunter.
People think that it´s an increase to our damage, but when they CC one of the two pets and you only have one available, it becomes totally useless. I prefer to control a single pet, that has all its special abilities and that I can rely on to do 100% damage.
Also, I like that KC is one big yellow number only and not two small ones. But this is a personal taste :S
All pic it while its a hugh dps loose not taking it
All player where doing Thorgast sure because the love it and not because of the power the need too farm it
For me i dislike having 2 pets for PvP, the should balance it thats not rly worth the talent point taking it or remove it
OR BETTER what i would love and dont mind having 2x pet if CC only work on pet of you target them, no stucking in aoe roots or stuns or fear per accident
