If you have two specialisations, you need 7500. For druids, paladins and monks it’s 10000 to buy all three level two essence upgrades.
Don’t you guys think that’s a bit over the top? Yes, I am aware you can farm spare parts rather easily, but given the fact that there’s events, dailies and similar things you also use them on, not to mention mounts, things you need for achievements, and so on.
And that’s not even mentioning the fact that you need 10 Galvanic Oscillators for the first one and 5 for each one after.
I haven’t had any issues finding enough mana pearls while grinding rep to buy the Nazjatar essences, even both of them at once, but 5000 spare parts is quite a hunch. I’m currently sitting at 15 spare crates after spending yesterday farming quite heavily. Of course I did buy the mount and a few jetpacks on the way, but I still find it weird that these essences require such a high amount of spare parts, compared to every other essence, which were a lot more affordable, regardless of where they came from.
Well yes, 15k honor is also over the top, but those achievements are at least account wide. Farm it on one character and you’ll have the achievement on all of yours. You’ll have to farm the 5-10k spare parts on every of your characters. But I do agree, both are quite a bit and lowering the requirements by a bit would be most welcome to most people, I believe.
I’d assume it’s intended to be able to get the essence with the equal effort of reaching the requirement for said essence, without hardcore grinding.
Also of course I’m not looking just at the current point in time, but also future points in time, where one may want to unlock said essence on a second character, which will then again require 5k+ spare parts.
Well you need 1k rating in rated pvp. It’s not that horrible, to be honest. I feel for disc priests who need to farm 50k honor.
In general, many essence requirements after a fair bit too high and PvP essences shouldn’t be top tier in PvE, just like PvE essences shouldn’t be top tier in PvP.
If I am not mistaken the entry level essence is not worth the effort. It is the later ranks that got me. I mean I have in past got ok ratings in things, but the concept that I as tank, need to do pvp feels a bit ‘meh’. I have always believed in the simple fact that pvprs should get their bis gear in PvP and only PvP and PvEs from PvE. Its nice they try to lure us to change around things, but I do not feel intrigued.
Rank 1 is your weekly PvP chest, Rank 2 Weekly PvP Chest with a rating of 1k , rank 3 requires 15 Burgeoning Battlefield Furor which are looted from your weekly PvP chest, only rank 4, which is purely cosmetic, requires you to reach a moderately high enough rank.
But that’s besides the point, I wholeheartedly agree with you. PvP should require stuff from PvP and PvE should require gear from PvE. It’s always been a bit scewed since PvP almost always required items from PvE, but PvE requiring PvP (in this massive amount, due to essences) is quite troublesome.
You’re comparing a level 4 essence to a level 2 one here.
The equivalent would be 15k honor vs 5k spare parts.
And well, 15k honor is quite a feat as well, no idea who thought it’d be a good idea to implement an essence that’s quite strong in PvE only obtainable through honor earned from BGs, Islands and Brawls.
I’d still rarther farm the 5k, doing PVP is a nightmare. Anything past a 3 vs 3 and I no longer have any direct impact on the game and it becomes un fun and a bigger chore than grinding could ever be.
Find a nice little group and spend an hour grinding mobs at the northern junkyard. Collect scraps and feed them into the machine, you’ll get around 100 to 200 parts per scrap turn in.
Rinse and repeat. Reminds me of grinding ogres in BC for those war beads.
Yes, I very much agree, the fact that you are forced to grind said honor in BGs makes it several times worse.
I am very much aware of how spare parts farm works, thank you very much. I am just baffled by the sheer amount that’s required to reach those 5000 spare parts. I’ve spent a fair bit of time yesterday farming it, when I’ve noticed that I’m not even halfway there, at my level 2 essence.
Given the fact that you’re often required to use spare parts for dailies (charge empty batteries, as an example) you’ll end up using some of those you receive while getting your rep. And I believe at the point that you’ve reached the requirement of being able to unlock the essence, you should have at least a larger margin of what it costs to unlock it.
Just wait until you see that rank three has you grind 200 crates and 100 galvs.
But in all seriousness, they are expecting you to slowly grind this out over time, similar to PVP, they expect you to slowly progress to it, not try and do it all at once.
For all that is holy, how is anybody supposed to reach that on more than one character until week 2-3 of mythic?
But again, PvP requires you to have an achievement, which in return will unlock the ability to buy them on all of your characters, similar to the level 3 in Nazjatar, right? Or am I mistaken on that one?
