Your character's quotes as an RTS hero unit

I remember being quite fond of this thread on the old forums, but it seems to not have made it over to here.

So I finally got to recreating it.
This roleplaying game is fairly simple.
Your character is now a hero unit in Warcraft 3. Make up quotes for them!

Usually, these are the ones we had covered:

  • Spawning
  • Being clicked
  • Movement
  • Attack
  • Overclicked (humorous “poked” lines, can break the fourth wall)
  • Using ultimate ability.

If I forgot any, please do let me know and I’ll edit accordingly.
Additionally, do feel free to make up a unique ultimate ability as well and 3 basic abilities (with quotes!), but I’d say those are optional.

Now, we usually added 3-4 quotes to each category, but I’ll start off with Tyreathion here to show an example and make everything clear!

Spawning:
“Do I have to do everything myself?”
“Ready, willing and able.”
“The Vanguard’s finest, at your command.”
“Taking a life is a whole lot easier than saving one. But I’m damn good at both.”

Clicked:
“Yes, yes, what do you need?”
“Go on, commander.”
“Ready for battle.”
“For the ren’dorei.”

Movement:
“Consider me already there.”
“And that is where I will go.”
“Easily done.”
“Of course, commander. Moving out.”

Attacking:
“Say your last prayer!”
“Death is all that awaits you!”
“Fight well and I’ll make sure you die well!”
“No mercy for the likes of you!”

Overclicked:
quiet humming “I see a red banner, I must have it painted black. No colours anymore, I want it to turn black… or, you know. Blue and gold’ll do too. I just prefer darker colours.”
“So, turns out, you can go from being right handed to a dedicated lefty, but… well, I wouldn’t suggest my way of doing it.”
“What do you mean void elves learned how to grow beards after turning into what we are now? I’ll have you know I always wore a beard!”
“Yes, I hear whispers all the time. No, I’m not repeating what they say about you.”

Abilities:
[Shadow Mend] Heals the target ally for 75% of their missing health, but lose 15% of their maximum health over 10 seconds.
“You will not die today.”
“Not on my watch!”
“Be healed.”
“Fight through the pain!”

[Entropic Embrace] The damage of basic attacks is increased by 60% for 10 seconds.
“The shadows can be an ally.”
“The Void obeys.”
“What now, you piece of scum!?”
“Now the real fight starts!”

[Void slash] dashes forward, swiping with his voidarm’s claws in a frontal cone.

“Now it gets interesting!”
“I have you now!”
“My turn!”
“Die!”

Ultimate ability:
[The Void’s Embrace] Tyreathion enters his entropic embrace and void form at the same time, shooting a volley of voidbolts at enemies in the surrounding area. Damage is increased by 40%, shadow mend no longer causes damage over time and your abilities cost no mana for the next 20 seconds.

“Bash’a no falor talah!”
“You will all die!”
“You’ve walked into your doom!”
“Now, I am complete!”

(Please note that I can’t design and balance abilities, all the numbers are placeholder. I just went with what was fitting IC.)

“What is it that you require?”
“I am your sword and shield.”

“Forge onwards!”
“At your bidding.”
“A Knight’s duty is never done.”
“As you command, I shall obey.”

Attacking:
“Fight as one!”
“Face my blade, cur!”
“I will make this quick, I promise”
“For the Sin’dorei!”

Overclicked:
“The Light loves me, it loves me not… The Light loves me, it loves me not…”
“A little known fact, but Just-ice is always served cold. Get it? Just Ice?”
“Yes, I am judging you. I’m a Paladin, its what we do.”
“Blood Elf Blood Knights using Blood-Tempered Ranseurs, fighting beside plague-using Undead… Wait, are we the baddies?”

Abilities:

  • [Flaming Sword] - Kaeimar ignites his blade, gaining a flat 20% increase to his auto-attack damage and applying an on hit burn effect. This lasts for 3 seconds and deals a small amount of damage over time. Constantly drains his mana while active - No Cooldown.
    “We will rise from your ashes!”
    “Purifying flames!”
    “Feno’thori!”

  • [Guardian’s Shield] - Passive/Active - Kaeimar passively generates armour up to 20% of his total hp every five seconds. When toggled active, Kaeimar infuses his shield with Light and casts it at his foe, dealing damage and applying a stun. All remaining passive armour is burnt - the more armour lost, the more damage dealt and the longer the stun - 14/13/12/10 second Cooldown.

    “I am the shield of my people!”

  • [Holy Crescent] - Kaeimar conjures the Light, channeling it into his blade before sweeping it out before him. Deals flat Radiant damage to all enemies in a line, or heals allies, decreasing by 20% for each enemy or ally hit. The first enemy target struck is blinded. Applies on hit effects - 12/10.5/9/7.5/6sec Cooldown.
    “Light have mercy upon you!”
    “Face the Sun’s radiance!”
    “I am the Light of dawn!”

Ultimate ability:

  • [Knight of the Blood] - Kaeimar channels his burning desire to save his kin, becoming an avatar of Retriubtion for 10 seconds, gaining bonus movement speed that decays over the duration (60/80/100% move speed). While in this state, Kaeimar also gains increased bonus attack damage (flat 20, 25, 30%), that scales higher the lower his hp (caps at 60% when below 30% hp). He also receives increased self-healing from Lifesteal, (40/50/70%). With each enemy slain, Kaeimar regains another 5 seconds on his ult up to the maximum.

Additionally if at least one hero has been slain (friend or foe), and he takes lethal damage during [Knight of the Blood], Kaeimar revives over 3.25seconds, during which he is untargetable, Silenced and Slowed by 80% while healing himself for 35% of his maximum health.

Kaeimar’s playstyle would be heavily based around regulating your HP. You could either build him as a glass cannon, relying on attack speed to get the most out of his bonus attack damage (thus playing fast and loose with Knight of the Blood) or build him tankier, stack up on HP and really milk his Guardian Shield and the Blind from Holy Crescent. This way he becomes a persistent threat that is hard to be ignored (Stun, Blind, DoT and flat attack buff) but is also a poor target to focus.

Abilities:

[Aimed Shot] - Teknetia spends 2 seconds aiming his shot before dealing significant damage.

“Wave goodbye to your head.”
“Right between the eyes.”
“Deep breath.”
“Target in my sight.”

[Turtle Shell] - Teknetia commands Bowser to use his shell to block incoming damage absorbing 20% of all damage for 10 seconds. Bowser cannot attack while using this spell.

“Bowser, come!”
“Bowser protect me!”
Pet whistle
“Look at the pretty Turtle!”

[Molten Turtle] - Commands Bowser to breathe fire on targets in front of Bowser dealing nature damage for 6 seconds.

“Hey, stand in front of the Turtle!”
“Kick it up a notch Bowser!”
“Barbeque time!”
“Bowser! Fire Breath!”

Ultimate ability:

[Summon Mech] - Teknetia summons a G.M.O.D. mech to use in combat for 20 seconds. Movement speed/damage and armor are increased for the duration. Bowser and other spells cannot be used during this time.

“Alright then, Artificer time it is.”
“Need more firepower!”
“Time to suit up!”
In the tune to Iron Man - Black Sabbath “Daa naa, nananaa na, dana nana nana na, naa naa naaa!”

Stats are all completely made up, no idea on the balance etc.

    A giant handheld cannon, firing kegs filled with seemingly random (and very volatile) contents.
    “Last call ya mooks!” Manic cackling

Not really sure what kind of unit she’d be, some kind of saboteur maybe (complete with flaming cocktails and barrel bombs) - probably not too handy against infantry but good with structures or something.

“A demonic skull is great to intimidate your enemies and convince demons to fight for you but it’s a pain for getting through doors.”

Abilities:

[Demonbolt] - Send the fiery soul of a fallen demon at the enemy, causing Shadowflame damage. 3 second cast time.

“Your soul will burn.”
“This Demons use has expired.”
“You cannot escape.”
“I will consume your soul.”

[Seduction] - Xythel seduces up to 5 enemies around her stunning them for 10 seconds. Damage will cancel the effect.

“You can’t resist me.”
“You will all worship me!”
“Your lust is my power.”
“Kneel! Kneel before me!”

[Soulstone] - Xythel’s soul is returned to her body, resurrecting her. 10 min cooldown.

“You can’t kill me.”
“You will regret that!”
“I am unstoppable!”
“My mortal form is irrelevant!”

Ultimate ability:

[Demonic Invasion] - Xythel creates a Demonic portal summoning Demons every time Demonbolt is used. Portal lasts for 30 seconds. All Demons die when the portal closes.

“Demons! Obey your mistress!”
“You have only seen a fraction of my power!”
“The twisting nether is mine to use!”
“Obey my command! Slay my enemies!”

This would be another ranged unit, I think this would balance out in the fact Xythel has no healing abilities or protection spells. She can resurrect herself but not that often and it’s really more of a Plan B.

Bear in mind Brigante is -based- on one of the RTS units, the Dragonhawk Rider, so some will be the same, as we took as much from that ethos for the Guild as possible.

“Only The Brave Inherit the Skies!”
“You are nothing but my next Kill Tally on my Saddle!”

Tactical Mana Bomb. No, not a Theramore citybuster, but the sort used on Thunder Isle.

“The Keys are turned, the bomb is ready, may Fates look kindly on my actions this day, as Sun willing, I cannot. Release the bomb. I am become Death”

“Well… yes I am a Human Male Paladin… Why are you laughing?”

Ultimate ability: Courageous Devotion
increasing the effect of Devotion Aura grants for a short period.

“The enemy is powerful and unwavering, but I for one am not afraid to give up my life for the good of our nation! With me, brothers and sisters of the Alliance!”

Mauro here would probably be a balanced mix between a footman and a Paladin, as a war3 unit I imagine him having devotion aura and a defensive/offensive stance toggle ability.

Stance toggle:
“Strike them down!” (offensive)
“Make them pay for their crimes!” (offensive)
“Hold! Do not give them an inch!” (defensive)
“Stand your ground!” (defensive)

“I don’t get it. What are these people talking about ‘arrow in their knee?’ Like that is a bad thing. Just a flesh wound in my opinion. Living always whining about something.”
“You know, I am a god actually. But then again, I died and-…You are laughing at me, are you? Even the Ebon blade was better than you were. At least they were serious about my story without falling asleep. Maybe because of, I forced them to listen.”

Ultimate ability: Dead man walking.
Becomes unstoppable and unkillable. All units gain attack power for a short moment. If killed, comes back as a ghost to attack the enemy.

“March flesh! March towards them! Let nothing stop you on your vengeance!”
