I think I would’ve really enjoyed a Classic or TBC campaign. I don’t know if that was a thing back in the 2000s, but I prefer Classic over Modern WoW as far as lore/RP goes.
A campaign that starts at the Dark Portal and covers invading Hellfire and settling it and later on more of Outland sounds amazing though.
I admit I am drawn to some of the more interesting stories about relics of power that exist in this game.
Everyone knows about the dragon soul but how many know about the scepter of light?
its a quest item you are told to fetch and probably don’t think to much about it, except if you read the quest text it explains the scepter of light have the power to sink entire cities AND it was kept by the naga.
Imagine how many odd and powerful items like that just exist in this setting?
My dream Campagin would probably center around that, and style it like a big legendary quest to gather and evenutally forge a mcguffin to seal away a powerful evil from deep within the void, like an old god from a different planet.
It would start with a world wide hunt to gather the materials, something in Vashj’ir, something in felwood, northrend, outland etc. almost every landmass would see some use.
Then when all the materials are gathered and ready the campaign would travel to the Thunder Isle to use the Thunder forge there to craft the mcguffin.
But we are not done yet, because the mcguffin needs to be empowered, once more the travel would take us far and wide, to outland for one empowerment, to the shadowlands for another and each of the elemental planes for the last.
Once empowered and ready the final track would be to Telogrus Rift or similar, where a final stand off against the invading darkness can take place and eventually be defeated.
Obviosuly it is to grand scale and to much traveling to ever be done, but that is my dream Campagin.
Vashj’ir!! I feel like everyone’s too scared to have a campaign there, but in my mind it would be FIRE! Did you know the inky black potion works there, under the water? Endless possibilities
A comet of raw void magic comes across a celestial alignement, causing a sympathetic resonance that empowers void-users. Emboldened by this dark power, the renmants of the Twilight’s Hammer, followers of the Old Gods, seek to wield its power to unleash an age of darkness upon the world and resurrect their fallen masters.
Then, all of a sudden, as victory is about to be in the heroes’ grasp, the truth is revealed, the darkened object was no comet of darkness, but a void god. A fallen naaru whose background will be slowly revealed during the campaign (and not the last two days /COUGHS). And…
I participated in the Frozen Heart 2 campaign in late WoD. Between this and the BfA pre-patch campaigns re-enacting the lore events, I never saw so much server-wide collaboration before or since. I miss those days.
Drums of War Part 1 & 2! The absolute kick off for Stallnorth – despite having being RPed years prior, even during Frozen Heart. DoW was like the opening.
Like you, I truly miss massive server wide campaigns and I hope they make a return someday.
