Your earliest memory of WoW

Getting stunned by a Defias mob at the farm where Princess is, and thinking Snap Kick sounds like a cool ability.

Sorry, but that really made me laugh  Though it’s a kind of obvious misunderstanding!

Making a night elf character, managed to randomly wander somewhere with furbolgs that were skulled and kept dying every time I revived, so I made a new character.

it was 2004 and i was 12 i think, my godfather bought it for me and i installed it it was 9pm and i was going to school the day after but i logged in on my night elf rogue and got stunned when i logged in teldrassil the colors and music blew me away… i got “sick” for a week just to play it, it became my first addiction.

I was maybe around 12 or so dunno and created a human warrior on classic (or BC maybe) and there was a orc rogue(?) on max level that just threw throwing knifes at everybody and massacred every level 1 character and i was full of zeal and charged him again and again thinking sooner or later he dies too lol

I was convinced to try late 2008 a bit before wotlk launched.
Got stuck on the character creation, too many choices I thought so I asked for advice. “troll mage” it was and I played that… for a few minutes maybe.
Started off with killing a boar with fireballs, got oom on the 2nd boar wondering what’s going on, then I saw how slowly the mana regenerated and was like “are you kidding me?”

Let’s just say that troll did not exist for long :joy:

Of course, my very first character… a Tauren Druid, questing through Mulgore. Was such a great experience.

And encountering a pair questing in The Barrens doing that slow annoying escort quest towards Ratchet, led me to joining my very first guild.

I just started playing WoW, on this mage, first dungeon, and barely knew anything about the game, I didn’t know I had a water elemental and hardly looked at my spellbook.

There was this Hunter in the group, I assume he was at the top of the DPS meter because he started critiquing my damage.

He said his pet was doing more damage than me, and the next thing I knew, I was removed from the dungeon.

What’s funny is that I thought it was just some friendly banter because he had typed LOL in chat just before I was kicked.

Going on an “adventure” in tbc with another new player i’d met and we’d just joined a guild too, we thought it was a good idea to run from Elwyn Forest to Ironforge at lvl 10, we made it to Burning Steppes before we had to be rescued by one of the max lvl players which also happened to be the gm… that story followed me around a long time after when I became officer of the same guild

Me, S2 BfA, playing the Worgen starting zone with my first character.

I guess i was 12 years old or so, didn’t knew anything about wow apart from it being a “game like skyrim but there are other people”, made pandaren shaman because it was pre model update and pandaren model was literally with highest amount of polygons and most graphically appealing (and I thought that cho from mop cinematic is very badass), shaman because i was watching atla cartoon in this time period I suppose.
First confusing thing is that I thought that you need to mostly auto attack people and lightning spell is only for ranged situations, chose alliance because every part of their introduction screamed “good guys”, then i was bummed about wandering isle being only temporary zone, then I opened world map…
Anyway because I couldn’t afford subscription being 12 years old kid I returned only at the end of WoD

Creating my tauren Warrior, waddling around exploring, DCing over and over. The character was often stuck in the void - so deleted it and remade it over and over. I remember being amazed that I could just decide to walk where ever I wanted, to explore the World of Warcraft…

Before the server crashed again. Forcing me to start all over again, funilly enough with a smile on my face
:dracthyr_comfy_sip:
I got chocomilk to help me keep my energy up as I explored

I remember finding about WoW in 2008 while playing Warcraft III and I saw it on the launcher.

That night me and a friend started the trial and made two Trolls, mine was Mage iirc.

But the next day was the memory I won’t forget. I created a Night Elf Druid (Malfurion was my favourite character from WC3) and started playing on my own. It took me literally days to get to level 12. But during that time I met another player and we kinda became friends, and we met others during that journey. All this just in Teldrassil and Darkshore too. I saw a Blood Elf Rogue I think attacking Dolanaar and was in awe how she was killing all the NPC’s effortlessly.

This was on the American client because when I found out about the trial I didn’t know you could choose clients. I wonder if the people I met back then still play or have moved on completely.

Not knowing about auto attack and thus spamming 1 until I died to Northshire wolves.

Yes the yellow ones.

My earliest memory has to be being against playing WoW as I was playing another mmorpg and disliked how everyone was leaving that game to play WoW - yet I found myself buying a physical copy of WoW (a special edition, which included some kind of comic book and other stuff. I still got it.), and then I started wandering around with a Night Elf Hunter for the first few levels. Didn’t really continue, partly due to the social pressure not to play and partly due to my addiction to the other mmorpg.

Years later at the end of BFA I decided to give the game a proper try and been on and off since then. Kind of wish I stuck around back then as the game and community reminds me daily of all the cool and fun social things I missed out on.

my very first character was an undead warlock, i made that only because i were told by my friends they could summon an infernal in a town and it would kill everyone.

that was back in 2005.

oh yeah and i played on my sisters laptop, it was so bad that the sky was blinking with weird triangles. It was probably running like 12 fps even in start areas :joy:

Back in late vanilla. After leaving guild wars i started a human warrior and had so much fun with the emotes. So i found a poor soul And began to /follow him as i explored the emotes while he got angrier trying to escape me.

Our journey ended in loch modan where i was killed by kobolds due to my low level.
They guy i followed stayed a while laughing and insulting my corpse before moving on free from me .

After finally succumbing to joining the game about 30 days after launch, I rolled myself a Horde mage and hopped online to find my mates… only to find the rotten scoundrels had chosen to play for the really uninteresting looking Alliance side. So I had to go and reroll then spent the first few years on the wrong side of the fence.

I followed my RP guild from another game (Dark Age of Camelot) into WoW, even if I wasn’t a fan of the cartoonish art style to begin with. I did get stuck from the very beginning, though, although I was absent a while due to moving elsewhere for some time and not being able to access my EU account without heavy latency issues.

I wasn’t allowed to play games for a real real long time, so my earliest WoW memories are watching lore videos and Yogscast Lewis & Simon playing it, I remember in detail them play MoP
