We’ve got near 20 years worth of excellent music to choose from, from ambient background music to soaring epic choruses.
If you had to pick just one, which would you gravitate towards?
To start off, I’m going to come in with the music from Storm Peaks. When I first explored this zone in the WotLK beta, I was absolutely mesmerised by the music and would just sit there listening to it rather than moving forward with my quests.
Oh yeah! This music is engraved into my head. I spent so long in the Argent Tournament doing dailies that send you outside of the argent grounds. And I’d always have this music playing.
There is a ton of amazing music out there, and it’d be impossible to list them all, but I’ll give it ago.
The first five minutes of the song more specifically. It is also used in the Warcraft 3 machinima made by JoseBV on youtube, where Arthas battles the Blademaster and good god, it just sounded amazing.
Then there’s this one:
We first heard it when we made it to the Seat of the Pantheon and fought Argus the Unmaker, but they later used this track in the Chamber of the Heart during BfA aswell. To me it just speaks of the wonder and grandeur of the Titans who made this World of Warcraft that we play in ( And stick those First Ones where the Light doesn’t shine).
Last for this thread but definetly not least:
There used to be an old youtube Channel that can fortunately still be found, called Melvenor. It used to make lore videos somewhere between end of Wotlk and the start of Cataclysm, but he sadly dissappeared. But in one of his videos, he changed the toneheight slightly and yet somehow it tugged even more at your heartstrings. And then he had it play while Tirion Fordring made his speech before bringing the Lich King to an end.
“Regardless of outcome, they will know that we fought with honor, that we fought, for the freedom and safety of our people.” - Tirion Fordring.
I’d like to add the Eversong Forest ambience. Especially the night one.

You can definitely hear the influences from the Lament of the Highborne song. I also feel that the long-drawn strings of the cello convey that inherent sadness of the Blood Elves and how it sometimes falls disrupted, telling of conflict and a longing of a time gone.
Atop of that, it maintains a hint of that magical forest vibe so classic to a fantasy setting.
