I did this quest no problem on a character two days ago. I have come back around to do it today on another alt, and it just doesn’t work - in any way. Seems like lots of people are having the same issue, too.
I have tried all the following:
Abandoning quest/picking it back up (and in conjunction with all the following)
Reloading
Relogging/Relaunching
Disabling addons (then reloading AND relaunching)
Flying far away (flew to Belameth)
Loading to a different continent (went to Stormwind)
Doing it whilst in a party
Doing it solo
Deleting cache (yes, I actually did it))
I even quit the game for an hour and then came back and still no luck
I can’t progress any further in the questline now, submitted it as a bug but hoping someone from Blizz sees this quick.
This quest, and all the preliminary quests, are pure horrible.
However, I did eventually figure out how to get it to work. It’s like the furnace quest as you level up in Bastion, where you have to keep the temperature not too hot and not too cold.
You HAVE TO manage it by the little brown bar that appears.
You can dig ONLY when the slider line is within the solid part of the bar.
If you are not seeing the bar, that is the problem.
In this video, the bar is on the right of the screen, beneath the “QUEST DISCOVERED - MYSTERIOUS SEEDS” notification.
Too much fire, and the slider goes off to the right of the bar.
Too much water, and the slider goes off to the left of the bar.
In the video, he starts to get it right at about the 3:30 mark. I’m not sure he understood that, though. See the position of the slider on the bar.
I’ve done this quest before, I know about the bar. It wasn’t showing up and interacting with the elements/totem did nothing.
