Your honest thought about 10.1 so far?

First thing i’d like to add is that Blizzard kinda dropped the ball with this new upgrade system. It’s cool in nature but slightly confusing to players. Maybe if they post about it on their youtube Before 10.1 it would be much more appreciated.
Second thing is lack of skip (hotfixed) on earlier hours and then the fact that you should re-do almost whole intro on each alt sounds silly to me. Zone Graphics are ok, I liked storyline so far although I wanted slightly more badassness (if that can be a word) from Sarkareth. Right now he’s just a lizard doing lizard things

P.S. I’ve seen many many good things on this topic so far, hope devs take a look aswell.

It looks like we are getting more and more stuff to keep in our bags/banks :frowning: It’s spiraling out of control! Why can’t we buy stuff for gold and maybe one or two extra currency?

I’m really enjoying 10.1 so far. The new mole people race is fun and their village is full of character. Good to see the reintroduction of more frequent WQs - I tried to not miss them, but in the end I do think they’re important content for casual players. Gearing system works fine, feels like there’s plenty to do without being overwhelmed and I especially like the Vigor buff for flying at ground level.

I like the seamless transition into the Caves, it’s a neat idea.
I’m not in love with the mole people. They’re okay.
The world quests are bad, but at least we don’t have to do them every day.
It’s better than any of the sandbox zones we got in Shadowlands.

In my eyes it’s pretty average so far. The zone is pretty nice, but… empty.

The campaign so far has been pretty fun except for the childish bickering of the two would be leaders of the black dragonflight (please just let Ebyssian have the aspect powers). The side stories were pretty good, even tho a bit short.

Rare spawns have improved with a delay between annoucement and spawn which I really appreciate, but… nothing interesting drops from them except for upgrade fragments.

Upgrade system may seem a bit too complex for beginners, maybe if they just let people upgrade raid gear with valor and openworld gear with justice points (from hc and m0 dungeons, perfect way to populate hc and m0 dungeons with social players). On this point they seem to be trying to reinvent the wheel that worked pretty well the first time, but just seem to be going in a more complex direction each time.

I’m interested to try the Fyrrak assaults, m+ and raid next reset. So far when I compare it to Timeless Isle and similar zones… Not really amazing, not terrible.

No bugs

Is that a joke? I lost count of the number of times when I had to use /reload to fix stuck quests and non-responsive npcs’s.

almost all "events " that spawn in cave are bugged like hell - at least the one i tried to participate in . it hillarious how this made it to live in 2023.

ok i played the campaign and did all the quests available and here are my final thoughs:
-370 is too low to start the item level of drops(should’ve been 385 considering FR)
-gearing in forgotten reach was a step up but now we’re back to basics, drops should’ve been accountwide and we should be getting different loots since we can’t skip campaign on alts it’s not very alt-friendly(yes i’m aware of the discounts but it doesn’t help much with repetetiveness)
-this should be the last update that tells us to farm rares because that’s been like that throughout the expansion and it’s starting to get boring
-farming rares and not getting loot is ridiculous considering you might not get the right loots at first time(i got 1h with my retri )
-caverns is fun for first few runs but i don’t want to hang out here for 6 months so i’ll probably take a break after getting ksm till next update

Taken 4 chars through the campaign (plate, mail, leather, cloth) to get the campaign sets - straightforward and didn’t irritate me in terms of repetitiveness - I read that other alts can pop straight in without doing the campaign, so will probably do that for the remainder alts - not sure if it’s detrimental to gear/loot though (no skip at the moment)

I also read that you can go straight there by FP once you have been in there once and tagged a FP- I learnt the hard way by going through the tunnel for awhile

Initial gear drops were confusing as there is so much! But read about veteran rank and to focus on upgrading that :+1:

There is so much stuff to collect and my bags filled, in view everything I had from Forbidden Reach appears to be redundant had to go and empty the bags and re jig my bank which is quite full anyway!

Agree with other comments about the starting level of the gear, it could have done with starting at a higher ilvl - 395 as a continuation from Forbidden Reach.

It’s ok, although I do worry that after next week it will become fairly quiet meaning rares may be difficult to tackle with less players - similar to Forbidden Reach.

Funny you say that. I just went in on an alt to pick up the decent weapon and there’s literally no other players there doing the quest at all, and no groups in group finder. So of course I cannot complete the quest. I’m just gonna have to try again tomorrow when the game will hopefully be busier.

Excellent game design

Edit: It just #feelsbad. I checked the WQ on my BM Hunter and it’s not a ranged weapon. So here’s my main with a 415 weapon already, my Evoker hoping to find enough players tomorrow to get the weapon, and my Hunter stuck without the weapon until… who knows when the RNG gods will favour her. And this is no insiginifcant thing to me, as I don’t do end-game or professions and so this weapon is going to be my weapon throughout 10.1.0.

This very basic error of game design is exactly the problem with WoW at the moment. The devs just don’t think things through properly. Every design team needs that person who says “Yeah, but what if the first epic WQ reward is a weapon and many players cannot get the one they need? Isn’t that going to make some players feel bad about the patch in week 1?”

This person doesn’t exist at the moment. They have either left, been sacked, aren’t being listened to or don’t want to rock the boat. And it’s a really, really bad sign when this happens. It’s how we get Nokia going from the biggest phone company in the world to nothing, or how Boeing go from the best in the world to making planes that kill people in a completely avoidable way.

Give it a week maybe two at most as interest seems to be dropping.

needs a portal in loam
the cave entrance was fun to enter once or twice
hasn’t been fun to exit at all
I’d also up the gliding speed to 15 second to recover, it now recovers more slowly then walking which just feels weird.
I get why I just don’t like the result.

Same here too, in fact 3 out of the 4 chars I took through didn’t get the right weapon for them.

The new zone looks pretty great, and the very short campaign was good.

But after a day I have never been so bored in my life. There seem to be zero to do, other than farm rares for one shard each. I think it might be time to take a long break.

Timeless Isle was successful, once, so we made it baseline content for every new major patch going forward. DON’T YOU LOVE RARES

The whole zone is forgettable, just another empty “island to run around and chase rare mobs until new island with rare mobs comes out”

Remember forbidden reach?
Nowadays it’s clear pattern: Put out a random small zone filled with rare mobs and some new ‘currency’ that they drop. Players will run around chasing rare mobs getting currency, after a few months introduce new zone with new rares and repeat until forever.

The new currency system is an example of bad design, unnecessary “tiers” of even less necessary fragments and one more unnecessary currency on top of all that.

Remember Valor when you had ONE currency to upgrade your gear?

I have to agree while i am ok with the patch and rares and whatnot its just copy paste from earlier patches its like they say " lets just make a small island and put some rares in it" its starting to come of as abit lazy. Are they not hired to be creative because this isnt creative. Im allways happy for new stuff to do but at some point they need to create something different and new. You can say “then what do you want” im not the one that are on a payroll to be creative

It’s completely killed The Forbidden Reach.

Big meh from me.

I legit played the new content for one day since release due to my working schedule, and it didn’t feel amazing. Now this is a freshly-dinged alt, who went to the cave at the 290-ish ilvl. The gear that dropped was fine, however, CBA to figure out how to use the upgrading system.

  • Intro is fine
  • The campaign is MEDIOCRE at best and pretty short
  • Nothing to do in the caverns, so I’m back to the old zones content
  • Sarkareth as the last boss - lmao.

4/10 on my scale, and the bar is set pretty low already.

The zone is quite claustrophobic. I doubt I’ll spend much time there (other than passing through to get to Aberrus) when the raid and mythic plus season starts.

You mean Sarkareth, yes?
