Getting exalted in WSG with a 19 twink. That was my best wow experience. Nothing has topped it since. I know it sounds weird but it took so much fun times to acheev that.
The two that stand out most for me…
-
My very first character was a Night Elf Druid called Ozmosis in very early TBC. I got to level 8 in Tedrassil but then accidentally fell off the edge and died halfway down the cliff on a tree branch. I tried for an hour to reach my corpse but could not angle/time it right. I deleted the character and started over again because I didn’t know you could resurrect at the graveyard. (Noob alert).

My first raiding experience was Karazhan. We had a very… err… “passionate” raid/guild leader (MOAR DOTS! STOP DOTS! OMFG!.. you get the picture). We spent a whole evening wiping on Prince, the last boss and he got very angry, started insulting one of the healers that was the wife of our main tank… he was pulled up on it and he rage quit the raid, passed guild master to an officer and guild quit. After 10 minutes of us all calming down from the drama we decided to give it another try… and the prince went down. The joy was glorious.
The most laughs i’ve had was probably while doing all the alliance commanders in one go with a pug.
Our characters where all drunk so it felt like a very long pub brawl through stormwind to the keep, then to the train to ironforge, then back to stormwind to the harbor, to darnassus and then to the exodar.
I still have the group photo where we pose with our war bears outside the exodar
reading all this comments, makes me wish for a time machine to everyone!
turning back time is what everyone needs!
(Warlock)Vanilla: Doing so much damage that I was told not to go all out dps in boss fights because I would pull agro in seconds(And I did many, many times by accident).
+
People knew not to ask me for summons on my server, as they would always, ALWAYS end up places that killed them
(Paladin)TBC: 1v11 fight at Lumber Mill in Arathi Basin that I won easily(OP spec and good gear vs crap geared people)
(Warlock)WoTLK: Being treated like a portable summoning stone.
(Hunter)Cataclysm: Soloing heroic dungeons and getting time lost proto drake by having it spawn right infront of me while I was looking for the spirit beast.
(Warrior)Pandaria: Soloing 3 man arenas (Thanks second wind!)
WoD: Not playing it.
(Death Knight)Legion: The class hall story was awesome.
(Hunter)BFA: I’m not sure yet.
Back in The Burnin Crusade, I had a friend who kept dragging me around dungeons, trying to get me started. I would click Need on everything, but no one said anything to me about it, so I didn’t know I was doing wrong. Eventually, after several dungeons, my friend asked why I clicked Need on everything, and about how all the people we’d been doing instances with were getting angry with him because he was the one that brought me along.
The reason I was clicking need, even though I didn’t need the stuff, was because I didn’t want to be greedy, because that would be rude.
A great lesson was learned that day.
Back in WoTLK, I was doing a Warsong Gulch on my Blood Elf Rogue and our FC died, so I picked it up, as he died to DoT damage and used sprint, which back then, lasted 15 seconds and as that came to an end, I used the 100% plus speed boost from the base to score the win; however, a Human Priest was literally only milometers from picking up our flag and I must have scored the point, just mili-seconds before he picked up the Horde flag.
I think I will always remember the hunt for the Lucid Nightmare. Especially the maze, it was fantastic. I actually did it more than once just for the sake of it, and guided a friend through it.
I miss my old guild that doesn’t exist anymore
Had the best time back in wotlk with them and also that we got server first on yogg without lights. Will never forget how everyone screamed in joy…

Left an AV to log off and go to sleep. Woke up eight hours later, logged in, joined AV and it was the same AV I left hours before.
Back in MoP when I was a noob who mained a female draenei hunter, I was on the search to replace a low level trinket so my ilvl would allow me to join an LFR (I know, how embarrassing).
I joined a Mogu’shan Palace heroic dungeon, where I needed on a tank trinket drop from Gekkan. I won it, much to the annoyance of the group…so what did I do… I equipped it and left the dungeon. Success, I now had the ilvl to join LFR, and that’s exactly what I did.
No idea why this sticks in my memory so clearly but whatever. Thankfully nowadays I have changed… I would never join an LFR xd
Vanilla : the moment when you discover the game and feel alone in Elwyn Forest killing boar and defias, then when you go into Duskwood and get killed by spider that are red level. The first time you enter Stormwind, and then the level 60 “ding”.
TBC : Karazhan, my first raid I had done. The Black Temple architecture when you go up and up to get into the final battle, the ability to fly in a world, the WPVP In Nagrand, and the Quel’Danas Island daily quest with lot of WPVP, the feeling when you wipe in Heroic dungeons x) .
WOTLK : The beautifull music and zone like Grizzly hills, Naxxramas, Ulduar, and the nostalgia about the “good old times”.
Cataclysm : Didn’t played.
MOP : Oondasta griefing 24/24 with my friends, that caused my 7 days ban, the leveling zones, and beautifull architecture.
Draneor : Nothing.
Legion : The Mythic + system, all raids, the feeling when you kill Kil’Jaeden Heroic in pugs after so many try, the feeling when you get the BiS legendary after so many weeks of farm.
BFA : The music, and nothing else.
Leveling this Paladin (at the time called Bluejaye) in Vanilla for a bit then deciding to quit. Sold all my gear, gave someone the gold, deleted the character, cancelled payments on the account. Everything, all gone.
Lasted about 2-3 weeks, came back, created a new Bluejaye Paladin and started leveling that, only to be informed by the same guild member who got my gold that I could get my original character restored from the point I deleted it at. Created a ticket, couldn’t get “Bluejaye” back, got him back as “Bluejayeh” and have been playing with that name ever since.
Also on this tale. Re-gearing by starting back in Elwyn as a naked fairly high level Paladin walking around punching things and selling trash for money.
Pre-tbc. Taking part in the pre-tbc invasion at the Dark Portal and earning the Tabard of the Protector, that I still wear today. I even use it as a transmog on some of my alts.
TBC. Raid healing long enough to pick up the complete Justicar set that I kept in my bags long past any use for them. I spent a lot of time getting it, I was damned if I was parting with that gear. I use them for my transmog set. I think they look better than the judgement armour. I did spend a lot of time transmog soloing to complete that and the purple recolour for my Horde Paladin though.
Still TBC. Max level Healadin with some nice gear, tanking Hellfire Ramparts for a low level guildie and some randoms. Felt nice and tough at the time.
A lot of other smaller memories. I think this one was wrath, I picked up a really nice sword from a random kill, one of those super nice drops we occasionally get and it almost doubled my damage. I had just switched from holy to ret, it was a welcome boost.
The first time I maxed out everything in my Draenor garrison. Loved that place, I know it’s not a very common sentiment, but I did enjoy it.
All of the class halls in Legion, except perhaps the Rogue one. I kept actually ducking my head when going through some of the doors.
BC : Struggled for hours in darkshore after letting my big brother play on my first char (hunter ftw) for a few minutes and he sent my character to Darkshore without telling me how to come back. Lvl 7 in white gear, no pet andnot even lvl 5 spells, left to repeatedly die against grels and kitties …
Ended up finding my way back after leveling to 10 against all odds.
Wotlk : Ultrafun lvl 255 pserver with all 3 talent trees unlocked and spells from other classes. Everything was broken but hunters were really cool to play
Legion : First max lvl character on retail, geared through BGs and ended up joining a random guild through mass invites which took me to ToS, first real raid experience in retail.
BFA : Discovered the economy. Sold the very same day more than 2k trillium bars and more than 300 arcanite bars. More than 200k profits in a single day. Got me long boi
Oh yeah and Forum raid in Nyal’opha
As a former vanilla-player i tried out Classic with this druid, i was playing with an rl-friend who played rogue and we were leveling in Desolace at level 32.
We usually attacked all players we saw, also far levels higher then us, so we saw this human ret paladin who was level ?? for us minding his own business, and my rogue friend stealthed and attacked him.
I was a bit away from them, my friend being a pretty good pvp-player “almost” got the best of the paladin but paladin killed him and sat with around 15% hp.
When i reach them my friend is dead, and pala is eating to raise his hp. He didnt see me i think cause i was stealthed. So i break out of stealth and ressurect my friend, heal him up fast and he stunlocks the pala and kills him.
It was just great fun. Only fun moment i had in classic this autumn.
Making a fresh Draenei alt called Iamgnome and then running all the way to Gnomeregan. Didn’t even know the Deeprun Tram existed back then so died so many times in the burning steppes and searing gorge.
Back when flying first became a thing. Leaping off the mountain… on my ground mount
When I finally completed my Belf Paladin Class Quest - Man that was HARD… as far as I remember anyways lol
When Monks was added. Oh have I watched a LOT of pandas roll/Serpentkick off into nothingness - and their death.
Can’t really remember anything from Vanilla, I was mostly just a newb huntard, who forgot to bring ammo and entered the dungeon, with the pet on Aggressive - wondering where the hell my pet was… till we got swarmed with mobs xD
And then I am a person who ties memories to some music, so here’s a couple of my favurite music memories as well.
First time I heard the music in Stormpeaks - from 1:00 to 2:46
And then lately, in the pre BFA event, when I first heard this, this is now my alltime favurite piece of wow music:
Sitting outside Grom’gol in Vanilla, and watching as a raid of 40 players ride past on their way to a raid, that got me hooked.
As a lvl 11 horde player, i wanted a polarbear. I was dead set on it. I knew there was the rare in Dun Morogh, called Bjarn a lvl 12. I ran all the way from Silvermoon, to Dun Morogh, i had help from another hunter with a higher level. I have no clue, how many times i died along the way and in enemy territory…those skeletons that are lying between Undercity and Dun Morogh are probs mine… By the time i got there i could not tame it, because i had no armor left at that point. The other hunter put the bear in an icetrap and logged off. That gave me the chance to tame him…And i finally had my polarbear.
