I was very very very disappointed with Yrel when I did the Magâhar story. Itâs a big contrast to the Yrel I rescued in Shadowmoon Valley and watched develop and grow.
The magâhar recruitment questline, in a way, âsoft retconnedâ WoD by severing any link between AU Draenor and Azeroth. This felt like a not-so-subtle acknowledgement of WoDâs failures, and an attempt to scrub the lore clean of the implication of alternate universes.
If we see Yrel again, I very much doubt it would be on AU Draenor, because Blizzard seems intent on burying WoD and all of its contents. Will she somehow transport to our world, in time for a âLight villainâ expansion? Possibly. Will she be a major character? I doubt it.
Yrel being the reason AU Draenor was abandoned in itself almost feels like a meta acknowledgement of the initial player response to Yrel; that being, a lot of players disliked her, or found her annoying, or overpowered.
We didnât get much context. We might dive into what exactly lead to all of that stuff. Or theyâll just glance over it and make her a moustache twirling villain. I mean, itâs Blizzard.
You must be new here if you take Steve Danuserâs word seriously. How many characters now are supposedly going to become relevant again âSoonTMâ? Donât get your hopes up.
well yeah, think if we se yrel it is on Azeroth, and I think it wont take to long, maby in this expac already or next one.
My theory is that now whit Turalyon at the throne, and if he realices what has happend whit Anduin, I got a feeling he will do what ever it takes to stop the void or the Jailer to reach Azeroth, meening if he knows about yrel or if someone tells him about it, he might open the gate to Draenor and create his own army of light whit the help from Yrel. and then we have an light expac or so.
Bellular : So what do you think Yrelâs up to these days?
Danuser : One of the things we tried to do with that maghar orc storyline where we got to see, that the conflict between yrel and her forces, and grommash and his orcish forces didnt just go away so clearly theres some more story to tell there.
That isnât really a confirmation that we will be seeing Yrel again, or even so soon. Remember that AU Draenorâs connection is severed, making it impossible to go to and from there anymore.
Steveâs comment is more of a ânever say neverâ as opposed to an outright confirmation, which Blizzard is notorious for.
except for the fact he says this is a story thats going to play out literally in the interview?
Theyve been setting up a light based antagonist since atleast legion and the maghar scenario was actually supposed to come later in bfa than it did.
You can say yrel wont come back but its pretty obvious they are laying the groundwork for it, they even had denizens of draenor flee into the barrens at the end of the maghar scenario. ( botani /saberon )
