I understand your supposed to channel on death why oh why oh why do you have to click on a box that says using this item will bind it to you?? by which time the mob is very dead
Why can you not do this before the event
this is in no way fun or clever just lazy stupid game making.

anyone have a macro or a way around this buggy nonsense?

YOU NEED A SOUL CAGE TO MAKE IT BIND TO YOU FIRST…

there’s no need for that
just use it at 100% ‘to bind it to you’
it’ll proc a 30 sec cd, but that should be fine
for here on it won’t prompt you anymore

that aside,
allow me to join you and express my hatred to this item and everything it does

that’s how i did mine
i used it at 100% then chilled on dps till cd reset and then used it again

Yea this was annoying as hell.

I’m probably a noob but I was doing it on a mob that took 5 minutes to respawn.

3rd time I almost kill it and as I’m clicking away the message someone else flies in and starts the channel. :scream:

I realise it doesn’t help you right now, but this item is being addressed in 10.0.7 and being made much easier to use.

I like the soul inhaler - free awakened elements when you raid as most of the elementals there can be caged easily :smiley:

ENGINEERING

  • Zapthrottle Soul Inhaler has received several quality of life improvements:

    • The device can now be used while moving.

    • The channel time of the device has been reduced to 4 seconds (was 12 seconds)

    • Channeling the device for its full duration now marks the target elemental for 30 seconds. Slaying it during this window will also grant its soul.

    • The cooldown for a successful soul capture has been reduced to 5 minutes (was 15 minutes).

Under the current system I found it awful to solo so a friend helped me. He’d attack, I’d channel then he’d touch of death it.

Thank god they’re changing this item.

My only solution as warrior was to throw ravager hoping the mob would die to it fast enough during the channel time.

It was horrible, but during Vault managed to bag quite a few elementals (strangely enough, almost no capturable Earth elementals are in the raid… but the elemental in Ruby Life Poools enetrance inside is a perfect target)
Got my souls with group content
But I’m glad they changed it
