People give this ability a lot of flack for being useless, but I just discovered something today. It works similar to Druid’s flight form - you can actually interact with objects while flying. I had no idea it worked until I had to collect eggs surrounded by hundreds of murlocs and thought I’d give it a shot.
Another cool feature, which most of you probably already know, is that you can mount while mid-air with zen flight.
Obviously you can also use it while falling, meaning you can quickly pull it out to avoid fall damage.
Zen Flight is amazing.
One small request however: In instances where flight is blocked, it’d be great if it worked as a slow fall, or at least placed a buff that reduced the fall damage of your next fall.
It’s lack of use in instances or in combat, its necessity to touch the ground if you want to gather from a node, and its parachute-on-hit issue are what make it less than optimal.
It is however a great fishing chair. Monks can fish from a safe distance out over the water while other plebs have to stand on the bank!
When I said “interact with objects” I meant like quest related stuff. I didn’t actually test with node farming.
Hah, I didn’t actually realise that about fishing.
Truthfully, I don’t think it should have any use in combat, but in no-fly instances, as I said, it’d be great if it gave you reduced fall damage (light as a cloud!) or slow fall similar to Mages/Priests.
Sadly I can’t see Blizz doing anything like that because I think they just wanted this to be a little gimmick ability. We’ll always have fishing though!

You can jump up out of water and whip out Zen Flight to get to the waters banks quicker than swimming to shore like the non-monk plebs… OFC druid flight form is still better for that, but Zen is decent too. Water walking still lets mobs hit you and remove it.
