MoP is okay and all, but the population and group activities are pretty lacking. Even at peak times it can be hard to find a group for whatever content, plus the 14 year old extremely repetitive expansion just don’t be hitting like it did back when we were 15.
I know there’s people who love hating on SOD and that, but there’s also a lot of people who loved it despite it being severely neglected and having a lot of flaws.
Classic + isn’t going to be ready, for what? 2 years? SoD is a year and a half of content I and I think a lot of others would love to go for another round in. Especially people who missed out on the earlier phases or even the later ones.
Just copy paste it bro, how hard can it be? It’s not as if there wasn’t a drop in Subscriber numbers after SOD was canned. Just let us play it while we wait. I, personally would way rather mash buttons in SOD than MOP - I think a lot of people who enjoyed SOD would too.
sod was good on first phases, because it was something that we never experienced before. With every secret already known - i think, it wont be so interesting, especially on early phases.
If you want to play sod lategame - you still can do it on permanent sod realms, blizzard won’t shut them down and you can play as much as u want. Lauching sod from first phases again - i think pointless, with every secret already known

I don’t think knowing everything discourages people at all tbh, I certainly wouldn’t be discouraged to play SOD again
Even if it flopped, what would be the harm in hitting Copy Paste? They lose nothing, maybe even gain a few subscribers back… No need to put any team members back on it, just let it rerun it’s course. 0 downsides imo
No, it is different. MoP, or any other wow addon main feature was not “secret discovering”. But for sod, it was 1 of the main things that keep people in game. Sod endgame raid content - especially on phases 1-3 - was not very great, and one of the main thing that keep players in game - was levelling different classes, discovering runes and other interesting things. It was core of the gameplay that keep people in game first 3 phases - not just one simple raid. MoP or any other wow addon have good endgame content and most people play there for endgame content. On sod, first phases were not about endgame, but more about secrets discovery.
I’m going to assume you did not play till the end? I didn’t make a thread to debate whether or not people thought SoD was good. If you quit at P3 that’s totally fair enough, it wasn’t for you but there was a large community who played SoD right up until Aggrend dropped the bomb, a lot of those players didn’t want to stop playing the game but felt there was no point continuing after the fact when Aggrend promised MoP wasn’t going to be the exact same experience. Which… Numbers don’t lie…
So why not just put out a fresh SoD server for people who really enjoyed it? Most of which aren’t going to be hanging out in this part of the forum however SoD forum isn’t going to be on any radar. It costs them next to nothing, it’s copy paste, might even get a few of those players to resubscribe. 0 downsides really.
I don’t think knowing what’s coming is a good argument for why we can’t get 1 server starting on Phase 1. Classic - 21 years old. MoP 14 years old. Retail follows a 4 month seasonal model… You already know what’s coming anyway.
There’s 2 years to fill, so Pandaland or TBC for the 3rd time… Why not SoD for the 2nd time? It’s 1 server ffs lol, doesn’t affect anyone else. Obviously P8 drop off would be insane but then we have Classic + not soon after.
SoD was banging, it only died cuz Devs declared no more work on it.
If BRD > dungeons had a Heroic mode scaled up to above Kara Crypts, to account for our gear strength, id probably still be on it now.

if SoD did a re-release, but in P8 state, with all runes available etc, id happily play it, at the moment in MoP, majority of my guild is down to Raid logging , which is meh! Community is just gone

SoD peaked in the first two phases, when there were things to discover, as the name implied. I don’t think a second go of that would be as nearly as successful.
