For the last 2 weeks I have tried all the troubleshooting and suggestions on forums to rectify the Code 1016 error, but still nothing is working. Can anybody please assist in this matter. Thanks.
Same problem here. Nothing works. Still 1018 error. Here is my MTR

In your log, there were some data packet loss (1-3%) started at hop 3 and continued all the way down. The latency were very high (>1000ms) at hop 4.
I think some issue at hop 3, 10.10.2.1, which is likely your home network.
If you can, unplug the power of all your home network devices for 10 minutes and retest.
If the devices were setup by your ISP, you may contact your ISP support to investigate and resolve the issue.
Not only that, but the traffic is leaving the local network (10.x.x.x addresses), going out to his ISP (89.171.50.97) and then coming back into the local network again. Iād second what Maskraider has said, and suggest a call to your ISPā¦
https://whois.domaintools.com/89.171.50.97
ā¦which appears to be Eurotelpol in Warsaw.
LOL. You kidding me? Over 2000 packet sent and 1% loss. Do you really think its a problem?
Hmmm, thats interesting. I ll ask my ISP for this, but i think its not a problem. Iām playing D3 since years and network configuration was always the same, nothing changed. I have 1016 error since 2 weeks and never had it before.
BTW Eurotelpol is not in Warsaw, Netia is.
Fair enough, I was just going by what the WHOIS lookup said.
Good luck.
1%? I said 1-3%, the 3% loss at the bottom line might be contributed by hop 3 or hop 4 too:
Wonāt be a problem for web browering/viewing streams because they can resend or having a large buffer.
However, D3 is an online game. It canāt affort to resend your key stroke after waiting for four seconds, can it? Sure a browser can retry, and YouTube has buffer more than four seconds.
I am having this issue constantly.
That even after fully reloading the game and resetting my tcp-ip completely.
Since the global lockdown due to cv19 these issues have been consistent, before then it never occurred, unless I physically killed my connection.

I have subsequently made a change to my ethernet MTU, reducing it because of fragmentation.
It seems to have improved the stability, but still the issue persists.
Is there a way to resolve this error without being kicked off?
Got disconnected with this error few minutes ago.
Just happened to me now, as I went in gameā¦ Boom! 1016 and disconnectā¦
Something can surely be done about this?
Now as of 7:04PM SAST: āproblemā connecting to gameā¦
This is so frustrating.
7:17PM SAST: It happened again during a game. This error has made this game totally unplayable.
I understand now why fellow RSA players are complaining, and I fully support them when they do.
Please can someone urgently look into this as it is not an isolated incident
This is not a general error, that shit happens only when u are connected to communities, it is seams like u r using rabbitMQ as a message broker and it is completely resource overwhelmed and cannot handle such amount of requests, first timeout occurs in messages, then the system drops u out and as a result 1016 error.
I am having error 1016 every once in a while. Sometimes its 15mins after I get into the game, sometimes its 3 hours in. I had a few characters die on HC because of this and its getting annoying already.
I tried the suggested troubleshooting, but nothing helped. I ran WinMTR while playing and the two times I got disconnected I saw the final server IP going from 0% to 1%. I spoke with my ISP and they said they canāt do anything as I am getting DCād from foreign servers.

Wahahahaha blizz dont care. they already have your and my cash. 1016 rulezzz
It might be an internet protocol 6 issue - it was on my pc.
To check:
- Use the Windows + R key combination to bring up the Run dialog box.
- Type āncpa.cplā in the bar and tap OK in order to open the Internet Connection settings item in Control Panel.
- Double-click on your active Network Adapter.
- click Properties and locate the Internet Protocol Version 6 entry on the list. Disable the check box next to this entry and click OK.
- Restart your computer.
Update: Despite the above EVERY game disconnects with either āgame connection has been lostā or error 1016. this doesnāt occur with any other games or connections except D3
Well, your network traffics goes a completely different route from your PC to other servers too. Youāre saying something analogous to āWhen I drive from my house to City A, I get stuck in a traffic jam but if I drive to other cities, I donāt.ā The issue is that we need to find where the traffic jam is, and thatās why people with this issue are requested to Run a WinMTR trace and post their results, so we can look to see which network hops are causing the issue.
Iām trying this trace but donāt know what host to enter
I entered my IP address. I donāt know if thats rightā¦ but it shows:
