Error 1016 when idle for a short while

I did take that into consideration, but my problem has existed before the cable breaks as well as continued after both of them were repaired

There has been another break in the meantime, and that is no affecting me at all with the new ISP

It also wont explain all the other people having the same issue on the same servers

I believe that as things stand, the issue is most likely at one of the hops between all the people with the issue and Blizz, a faulty device, a dodgy route, or something in that line, I am sure that once a bunch of traceoutes/pathpings are collected and analysed, a patterns will emerge

Ok, i would like to thank 1016 that it didnt come up when i got my cosmic wings after 3 season,

second of all im in quarantine in a hotel so i guess that MAYBE the problem? ( ive never had such error besides 3006) but also my friend says the servers are getting battered? because of CoD? im not sure,

I have 7 days left in this room does anyone have any troubleshoots for mac? i tried uninstalling blizz app and uninstalling the game too but still nothing (though i have noticed the game runs a tad bit better at night)

Hoping when i go back home to my own internet and desk etc it will be better if i still get 1016 i really dont know what else i can do.

Thanks for any tips or tricks i can do on the mac ! any ideas are welcome thank you!!! (i just dont want to disconnect when i push GR’s too LOL or else i will be p****d off)

Hi all I am from South Africa and I am sitting with a very odd problem I am getting the same error but my wife is also playing and she does not get the error at all I thought maybe it is my network card and then I logged in on her pc and then I got the same error, I then logged in with her details on my pc and it worked fine and I could play game the whole day with no error at all and we use the same isp and is on the same network so I have no idea what it can be I opened a ticket to blizzard and has not recieved a reply as yet maybe someone here can tell me what I can do.

If you get error 1016 on macOS Mojave try this.

  1. Set your IP manually not via DHCP
  2. Set your DNS to Google public DNS (8.8.8.8 - 8.8.4.4)
  3. Start Battle.net app and go to Settings -> General -> untick “Use browser hardware acceleration”

Fixing that for you…

In future, if you use the Export TEXT button in WinMTR, you’ll get a text version of the output, which you can easily copy and paste into a post, so we can see your trace without having to go to an image-hosting site.

Same here, bot also when playing game randomly disconnects with Error 1016.
Actually killed my char on HC.

Looks like related to Telia infrastructure.

Yep, once again the node with a problem is on the route to the .157 server, with no equivalent in the trace to the .158 server.

Not sure how many of these traces we need to supply showing the same thing.

I cant believe you have not fixed it yet… this problem is here since the new season started, this shows how much you actually care and listen to your fans, thats really shame

Error 1016 occured after latest patch. Worked fine before. Already did recommended fixes (flush IP, reinstall game etc.). Bought new computer, same error, went to another house with different IP address and ISP, same error. I have enjoyed Diablo since its debut in the 90s. Shame I have to give up on it now.

I got the same error, every time, just need to wait for 2 minutes and bang! error 1016…
i did everything to fix it too, nothing changed

yeterday i got error 1016 on 5 103 GR-s on DH IN A ROW…finaly i made the 6 one but still , losing all the time and effort its not so fun. I was reading forums for fixes but same issue still. Blizz wats the problem ? pls guys help us !

So 2 weeks ago, I go back to playing d3. Everything was fine, but yesterday I started to get this error 1016. It came from nowhere.
I already tried every Blizzard way of “fixing” it and guess what.
Nothing works.
PC restart - error 1016
release&renewe IP - error 1016
Disable IPV6 - error 1016
Compatibility Mode - error 1016
Antivirus exception list - error 1016
Reinsall Diablo 3 - error 1016

I guess i have to try VPN.
But really, to have to use outside program to play the game that I PAID FOR. Blizzard do something aout this error or make an update that allows people on PC play singleplayer without any need for net connection.
Or do what you always do. Just say:
" we are trying to fix things "

Same problem for me as for the others, started after last season, cant play the game this way, please do something about this. We´ve all paid for this game Blizzard, get to work on it.
