Lag issues in high GRs 115+

Hi,

I am sure there already exists a topic of this issue. However, I cannot reply to it. Thus I opened a new thread.

We have big problems when pushing higher GRs (115+) There are massive lags that make the game impossible to play.

We checked GUI drivers as well as pagarons - area dmg - and the PCs are up to date. I ran a ping on the Blizz D3 servers during gameplay but showed no outages or higher ms even as we have massive problems while playing.

Also, I must mention that I cannot write a trouble ticket. As I hit “submit” I get moved up to the top of the page and nothing happens. The issue persists with other members of my clan who experienced the same troubles. I have recordings of the problems as well as all other details required by the tec. support. I am happy to provide the details.

Cheers, Rychveldir

Hello Rychveldir,

Could you post a WinMTR of your connection while you are actively playing Diablo III? We might be able to provide you with some assistance, if you do so.

He is not the only player who is having this issue, we all are having same issue we cant enjoy a rift without disconnects or lags, D3 is unplayable anymore.

I have got the same problem i cannot solve the problem. I also did the ms thing i got very good results

I am still suffering lag, don’t care what you claim to have sorted but yet again the game has become unplayable as far as enjoying it and rifts are impossible

Why are you still asking for network diagnostics? It’s your servers that are lagging. Everyone who plays the game knows about the server lag caused by area damage and other area effects (e.g. rend bloodbath, etc). Yet, somehow, you’re still investigating network issues… In a large group of tightly packed mobs, these area effects can easily overload your servers. In fact, they routinely overload your servers. Just try a few public GR games at level 110 or higher to experience it firsthand in high density areas. All that’s needed is a few barbs in the group or often just one barb with non-zero area damage whirl-winding through a high-density group of mobs.

how come it wast any issue in previews sezon whit out lags, its look like its happens only on GRIF, i look on my FPS and its all ok 40-60 but my internet connection its jumping green-red, and its happening when it`s more mobs on map,
how i can add WinMTR file to forum?

In this case you can simply paste the results into your forum reply and we can read it for you. Hopefully the results will show us the cause of the Latency being experienced here.

This LAG is so bad, cause of the crappy servers, we can do no GR than 125 the game stops for serverl minuts, it is no fun anymore, i play monk sunwuku an we have support monk too and a barb + hunter.
The LAG destroys the game :frowning:

I’m not a computer tech… but I would say the issues start right at the first hop. He’s losing 4% of his packets between his computer and his router… and the average ping time is 9ms… that’s way too long… it should be around 1ms.

The numbers you see with VirginMedia may or may not be caused by the issues he’s having in his home. Solve the issues at home, I would say… then check to see what a new WinMTR say.

I have resolved that issue by lowering the graphics(I got 1060 3gb). I believe there is a bugged graphic on higher settings. I just havenot experimented with it to pinpoint the issue.

Hi Folks, thank you for the replies! Due to the holidays I have not yet had chance to test it any further.
I use a Nvidia MSI Gaming X GTX1080. I doubt that graphics are the issue here unless it is in the architecture of the game itself??? oO I mean, I can play BF V on max settings without any lag or micro stuttering or any other performance issues. as an example. D3 is by far a less strenuous game hardware wise.

I will post the results once I got round to checking it out!

Cheers and merry x-mas to you all!

i try that change to lower settings, i dont think that is the issue because i still have around 38fps and its fill like it`s 2.

at list other players have low fps.

but any way it`s only happens on GR, like some people say after 100+

Funny thing my friend tested it with a workstation which has quadro and it doesnot lag. As a result your graphics card is not enough(just joking). There is definetely an optimization problem

I can say this to this matter: I had a chat with a youtuber and he advised me to check the area dmg. The whole group - 2 Barbs and one support Monk - redistributed our paragon Lvls and had no paragon on area dmg as well as we checked in the stats if there was any area dmg done by our toons and we had 0% area dmg as of the stats. I am however not sure if - as you say - rend and bloodbath do area dmg…
As far als my investigations go: Selfcast Rend does proc Area Damage. Rend applied by Ambo’s does not proc Area Damage. Source: ( https://www.reddit.com/r/Diablo/comments/djr6xm/267_area_damage_with_ww_rend/ )
So according to this it may as well be the build causing the issue postulating that the area dmg is the reason for the lags??? oO Which then justifies your question as to why we have to look into network connections and so forth.
What say you game masters?

Best regards!

i already know about area damage and i 0 it last time and still lag

What I’m saying is that Rend Bloodbath is another type of an area effect besides Area Damage (which procs off Whirlwind not just manual Rend).

Rend Bloodbath can be a problem when many mobs are killed off in a short window of time. Exactly, how it’s done in higher level GRs. You can find YouTube videos of top players considering to replace Rend Bloodbath with Lacerate, just to avoid getting killed in a huge lag spike when mobs start dying from a domino effect of Rend followed by seasonal buffs.

The problem with any area effect is that for one mob the game has to consider many mobs in the neighborhood (e.g. within a 10 yard radius). So, if you have a tightly packed group of mobs and you trigger an area effect on all of them, then the worst-case computational cost to process that is quadratic in respect to the number of mobs in the group if the whole group is packed within the area effect radius. Quadratic means that for a group of 5, the cost is 25, but for a group of 50, the cost jumps to 2500 for a 100x increase, in relative terms. Hello, lag spike…

Of course, when the game server is on its knees choking on these computational spikes, it won’t be able to process network traffic, which will cause correlated network lag spikes as a secondary symptom.

Hi
I didn’t read all the posts but I had the same issue till i died in hc because of it. (The whole group went down after massive lags in GR114)
And I heard about that problem from all clan members which were facing 110+ grifts.
It’s sad, that even after the issues with AE Dmg, which the community has to solve on their own by not using the para points for it, blizzard “found” something new to get people out of playing diablo 3. Not to mention an unplayable character in multiplayer (wd) or the problems with finding a GR that fits to your actual gear and para-level.
