Summon Necromancer needs a serious buff

It all pretty much boils down to this:

  • A couple weeks ago a friend asked me if D4 was fun. I said i don’t know yet, not convinced yet. Give me another week or two and ill tell you what is up.
  • Guess what blizzard, i play necro for the minions. Why the hell would you play necro otherwise?
  • In the meantime, no buffs, no improvements for the exact thing i play. I must be doing something wrong man?!, i check videos on youtube, famous D4 streamers. What am i looking at? Weird necromancer builds that use skills and ultra rare items that do make them relatively strong and make them able to get to lvl100 and whatnot. No minion build anywhere. Also lvl60 wizards and barbs clearing lvl100 content fast than lvl100 necromancers. Fun right. Balanced right?
  • Friend asks me again, so bro, is D4 fun?
  • D4 is fucking trash, waste your 70 bucks on something else. Lets catch a movie instead and have a few beers.

I share same problem with you. I want to play summoner Necro. I can create a mage if I want it. Thanks for this post and I’ll wait for solution too.

Please fix all the bugs too like

  • minion damage% increases do not influence the ring of Mendeln explosions.
  • the ring doesn’t work at all in suppressor circles
  • pets themselves and thorns don’t seem to be able to trigger the ring or any other lucky chance
  • If they do or this is intended Please add a lucky hit chance on the summoned skeleton and summon Golem tooltips, even if it is 0% because right now we’re just guessing. same with thorns put it in as extra info when you hover over your thorns in your sats menu or something
  • some of the Paragon board legendaries don’t seem to work.

these are just at the top of my head right now

As a quality of life thing.

Lucky hit chance on dot abilities seems to be spread over each tick giving us the chance per tick, yet again if it is not the case this is another bug, and the 60% on blight and bone storm are most certainly not correct. procs happen way more on the 31% lucky hit chance on corpse tendrils

Right now we just throwing things at the wall and seeing what sticks

which is not fun

Euhm I just saw someone bone spear Uber Lilith to death in about 40 seconds. I know it’s not a summoner but it’s still a Necro

Summoner build is so underwhelming it’s not even funny. In general they need to make more skills viable, right now the game feels a little stale.

Ye, had a look at the video and he is 100% right.

Yes, having made a pet necro for S1 for 1-50, it is very clear that not even straight dmg buffs would help it. (i stopped at 41 and went blood from there…)

What we need is what we dont have, the D3 skill; command skeletons and a straight active damage buff on the raise minion skill. You have zero control over the minions in D4 whitout it, they just hit whatever they want and they hit very weak even with all possible skill passives that buffs pets.

As a dark mage necro works just fine, we have blood, shadow, bone and shadow dot all doing good damage and have survivability, but as a pet build, the basics are not even implemented.

Now on hardcore (out of season) I decided to play a pure summoner without Mendeln. Of the attacking skills, I use dd lvl1 to proc the deck. Under the army of the dead on t4 I kill dungeon bosses for 1-2 seconds. Elite packs also burst instantly. Yes, I’m only 70 so far and I’m going through 75 (I’m sure I could be much higher, but this is hc and I’m afraid of one-shots). I can say for sure that it is necessary to raise the base damage to warriors. even under the glyph, their contribution is not great. But in general the build is playable
