Teleport to black screen

Alright, I installed BES and ran my first test. I set the CPU limit to -10%. I did more than 7-8 teleports and even played Infernal Hordes with a full 4-player party. Normally, I would always get the black screen issue, but this time it didn’t happen. Of course, I haven’t fully tested it in detail yet, but even these early results made me really happy. Guys, try BES and share your results on the forum. For now, it seems like the issue is fixed for me. I will do more extended testing later and share an update.

+1, BES seems to have completely solved my issue with these settings

What settings did you make? Can you post a screenshot if possible?

i dont think i can here, just open the app, click target, select the diabloIV.exe(the game have to be running) and then click limit this, set the CPU to -10% and thats it

This is the first thing that has helped!

I tried reducing graphics quality, resolution. switched upsacler from AMD to Intel but nothing.

now with Battle Encoder Shirasé limiting Diablo IV to -10% i have not gotten a single one while teleporting so much I’d expected 3 in the same time frame.

This (and that an Nvidia user friend of mine (but with AMD cpu)) makes me wonder if it isn’t graphics related in the first place.

Well Xantar was right, it didn’t fix it, happened again after a prolonged session but didn’t happen after 15m, guess it’s something.
Sorry

Lol,so the problem actually like CPU multi-thread leak,GGG had fix it in beta S1

10% is my test best optimization value in Poe2,I had change to 5% to get more CPU performance reduce rendering stuck after load

I think you can try different value depend your CPU

Have also tried the BES method after reading about it on the US forums and it seems to have fixed the issue for me when set at -10%

YMMV obviously but for me running an AMD CPU and GPU and having previously had teleports slowly get slower and slower until the black screen, this has completely fixed it.

Yes, the download is completely safe.

BES (Battle Encoder Shirase) – working workaround, no black screens

I tried using BES with a 5% CPU limit on Diablo IV.exe, and the results are excellent:

  • full day of gameplay with no black screens,
  • smooth teleports and scene transitions,
  • no noticeable FPS drops.

BES slightly slows down the game process, which prevents aggressive VRAM growth that normally leads to render crashes.

Not a permanent fix, but it works reliably – definitely worth trying if you’re on AMD.

I’ve been trying BES since yesterday, and I’ve had no more black screens after 10 hours of gameplay, limiting the CPU to 10%.

It’s a good solution while waiting for an update from Blizzard.

Yep - find I’m doing this all the time, not exactly the gameplay I was expecting…

Just adding to this topic as this has been frustrating me since the expansion. Nothing like paying for content, then not being able to enjoy it because you keep crashing to that black screen or disconnected from server dialog (rarely). I know from researching this error that the expansion is when it started affecting me, it has been around for both PC and console for YEARS. Why this is not addressed yet is troubling. This is easily a severity 2 issue.

Just to add I have tried messing with the VRAM and pref file… has no effect. Have tried other solutions as well with no effect. What is odd is that the group I play with none of them are affected and my machine is newer and faster with more resources (disk space and RAM). I also tried to double my RAM (from 32G to 64G) and that helped a bit, but this problem still persists. I got the black screen with over 30G of free memory.

For my issue this is related to the portal code. If you can play with a friend and have them portal locations first, then you can just teleport to your friends location (right click on their name or go through the players portal) rather than clicking on a town portal or hitting T.

Also avoid hitting T to leave a dungeon, use the exit dungeon function will cut down on the crashing.

I also notice that the issue seems to be compounded by busy servers. I can generally play longer during the day while at night my black screens are frequent.

This is the only game that I am playing that is having issues. I am not sure why this problem is only affecting a small number of the base, but its not that small… there are lots of complaints if you look… just no solutions (that work). And more disappointing, no acknowledgement from Blizzard that this is even an issue.

Not sure how much longer I can take this… I bought the last expansion… but I am not buying another until they fix this. I did build my machine a little over a year ago and graphics cards were unobtainum, so I bought my first AMD card RX 6750 XT. Not a bad card, but all my friends are team green. I have Intel CPU and they are split between AMD and Intel. From reading it is hard to tell why it happens to some and not others though… but I am pretty certain the issue is in the portal code.

Sadly for me BES hasn’t changed anything.

Confirming that 8 months later, nothing has been done and nothing more has been addressed by Blizzard. This is ridiculous and contacting the FCC may be the next step. Selling a car and it only drives until it dies and you have to start it again? This is exactly that. Bad business practices and no reassurance of rectifying the issue. Here I come FCC!

Same here.
Cpu: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X
Gpu: Asus TUF 4080S
Since VoH…

Hey Guys, i solved the problem with black screen for me. I just deleted the high resolution textures. Use the modify installation option on the launcher to delete it. Since a few hours i dont got a black screen. Maybe it solve the problem for you too. Good luck

Just figured I’d mention that I have also been having this same exact issue since Season 7.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900x
GPU: Red Devil Radeon 5700XT (Drivers fully updated)
RAM: 16GB Hyper X Predator DDR4 3200mhz
Storage: Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB NVMe SSD
OS: Windows 11 Home (Fully updated)

Lowering global graphics settings to Medium did increase overall performance but I’m still getting the black screen with UI at least around 30-40% of the time when I teleport. I haven’t tried BES yet but I will and report back on whether it’s helped any.

Is there no solution to this problem yet? I’ve been dealing with it since S7, and it’s now much worse in S8. Game is literally unplayable with stuttering + this black screen and hud issue.

I’m on AMD GPU as well, drivers updated. I’ve tried reinstalling the game, repair, lowering graphics, etc. I don’t have HD graphics installed at all either.

I have found a solution!

It is quite simply really, it was there the whole time.

I turned my attention away from the game and stopped playing.
Miraculously this solved all the black screen issues I had with this game since season 6.

Feeling much better already, would recommend if you’re still having issues.
