The game consumes all the VRAM of the graphics card and causes the computer to freeze!

Since 06/11/2023 the game freezes while playing the game shows a blue screen of windows and all I have to do is hard reset my computer!! I reloaded the latest drivers, reinstalled Battlenet and reinstalled Diablo 4 and nothing! I’ve played all the betas on my PC and since the early release I haven’t had any problems with the game :frowning: I’ve had this since the last game patch!!! My PC Radeon 7 3700X 6800XT 32GB RAM 1T SSD M.2… I see that the game starts gradually use all video card memory and when it does it freezes my pc!! i always played on ultra settings without any problems. i already changed game settings, lowered quality and nothing. i have windows updated, latest drivers for all components, i cleaned registry, i cleaned card memory and nothing!! I used all the advice from the technical department and nothing!!! Does the company know about this problem and is it trying to do something about it?? I also play other games, e.g. CP2077, Witcher 3 etc. and no problems!!! If this doesn’t change I would like a refund for this game because I can’t play it!!! I bought a product that broke and I can’t use it fully!!! Please reply.

I join you. Since June 11th-12th I have had repeated crashes, first with blue screen, then with “diablo 4 has run out of memory”, in my event log there was a critical error in Display driver nvlddmkm. Apparently the problem is caused by the new patch downloaded on June 11th.
Please take action!

The problem seems to be around VRAM usage and is affecting high end cards more then others. I was crashing even 20-30mins, I changed my settings to reduce the load on my VRAM via using medium textures, DLSS and boosting my GPU fan curve manually to cool the VRAM however I am still getting the crashes.

I’ve requested a refund and appealed the automatic 2hr play denial because that is ILLEGAL here in Australia and it took more then two hours of troubleshooting. I think blizzard purposefully wastes your time asking you to do tech stuff just to push you over the 2 hour mark so they can refuse a refund.

Same issue here… 5800X, 32GB RAM, RX 6900XT 16GB VRAM… I downloaded the High-Resolution Assets, so I can select the Ultra textures in the menu, but the game is stuttering and using up all the available VRAM… when I checked it in GPU-Z, the used dedicated VRAM was above 16000 MB… even with High textures, it stays above the 15GB limit… I think this isn’t normal behavior, but Blizzard is ignoring this issue. There are lots of posts and comments about this, but no official response. It should be investigated and fixed ASAP!

Not a 100% on this but seems like a ton of players are being effected by this, and yet blizzard isn’t putting out a message at all. Like hey guys we are working on this on our end blah blah blah so on and so on, Plus seems like a good amount are 30 series Nvidia Cards. I thought wow my Card is dying ok i’ll change that put in brand new card and got same results.

Then it cleared up a bit now my entire pc crashes and restarts my ISP modem is being effected as well to a point that even that restarts like WTF is going on.

I join the claim, I have a rx 6600 XT, with 16gb of ram ddr4 3600mhz and a ryzen 5600x, if I use the game in default settings on high and without the texture pack in high resolution, the 8gb of my ram are used and even exceeded, if I lower the textures to medium uses between 5.5 and 6gb, is the only solution I found, even so the game produces peaks of fps drops to open the inventory, merchants or the social tab, and when there is an appearance of many enemies when crossing a sector of the map, and more if it is riding on the mount, does anyone else suffer these drops? it cuts all my immersion in the game. every maintenance and every day I wait for a hotfix to fix this problem, but blizzard doesn’t even seem to acknowledge the problem with so many people having this problem.

nvidia rtx 4080 and it freezes at any graphics settings. confirmed.

Can confirm I’m having same issues constant ramping demand until card gives out and resets

Same issues. To top it off, whenever Diablo crashes to desktop with an error screen, it also quits other applications that are running on my computer, like discord and stuff. It actually crashes so hard it crashes other apps.

I just noticed that there is a crash exactly when I am at the blacksmith and looking through the inventory: the video card starts to load, the temperature rises and the “Fenris” error occurs (6BD19278-2844-4533-9FED-127EA4178E4B)

Yeah any time you open the inventory the GPU-load goes up to max.
But still your PC should not crash under load, what are your temps?
Did you check your cooling? It’s getting hotter every day and thus any cooling deficit will manifest sooner or later.

If it 's a blue screen of death , .Then the RAM is blown away .These are cooling problems .The game lags a lot many times, they kill.Go to the Windows application .And look at the error monitoring because of what the crash was.The fps drops and lags a lot .

During fights with different effects, my GPU temperature does not exceed 57 C. In general, there was no problem with the game until June 12-13, then after the update, apparently, errors and crashes began.
i 9700
2070super jetstream
32 Gb RAM

By the way, the event log shows that the problem is in the graphics card driver as I understand it (Application Error - nvapi64.dll )
The path of the failed module: C:\windows\SYSTEM32\nvapi64.dll

lock the fps at 60 or like the screen, but a little less, maybe it will help. The game requires 32 GB of memory .I have 16, I play as the game set me.2-3 days the game lagged a lot that FPS was falling and that 's it .Either it 's the processor and drip , you need to look in the bios .By cleaning the cc clener , or Advanced SystemCare hard drive .But these programs can demolish the registry or delete everything on the PC at all. you need to use it carefully.( windows notifications are all unnecessary (it does not depend on the card). The problems with the game are clearly when the monsters are new or a horse.

Yes, disable unnecessary applications , That 's why everything is disabled .But when the fps drops rel 2 days, the problem is new.I ran all the early access on horseback , to locations and to locations , or the legions of friezes were powerful , they still remained .Not long ago, teleport was thrown out of the game 2-3 times.

It could be hardware yes, but bsod also can be driver related or software in general.

Yes i understand, but the load when you open the inventory spikes really hard and fast, this can cause problems for systems that are not 100% stable under load.
Like does your system run stable if you run a furmark or cinebench?

Which version are you using? I had no problems with the last 3 “Diablo 4 ready” drivers with my 2070S.

Are you using more than one display? This can cause problems with D4 especially if you watching a yt/twitch stream with hardware acceleration on in the browser.

PS: try closing the bnet launcher when playing

The game in my case that I have 5700 and 3600 and 16 ram, causes exactly the same problem of memory leak in low medium high textures, it always consumes more than what I have in the graphics and freezes my pc completely, the only way I have to play is to go looking to change the textures when the vram goes up so much and returns to normal themes, it is somewhat annoying and something as a temporary solution that blizzard should end up solving I hope, I was still able to play devil 4 a lot, but I keep repeating that It has some insane vram consumption that is not normal and in the long run the PC always ends up collapsing, I hope they are reviewing it and a fix comes along that really fixes it.

I have the same issue. When i stream with GPU codec and have the game on High graphic settings, it takes about 1 hour and whole computer gets freezed and ocassionally the game get crashed. When i dont stream, it takes around 2-3 hours till the same issue.
I have ryzen 2700x with RTX2080 8GB VRAM and 64GB rams DDR4

Did you disable the page file in windows? Sadly Diablo 4 needs one to run and regardless of how much ram or vram you have it will create a page file the size of your system ram. If you restrict it, it might crash.

Just fresh out and confirms the VRAM texture quality problem:

I have the virtual memory and the paging file set on a hard disk, since I have 3 disks in my pc, do I have to have a paging file on all the disks? that sounds a bit cheesy.
