How did people go about fixing "not logged in as an admin"

So… as the only game on the list “Heroes of the Storm” claims i am not logged in as an admin while every other game is updating perfectly.

How did YOU fix this issue?

I tried every single step suggested by Blizzard with 0 luck.

You cant fix it on your pc it its external Blizzard problem so Blizzard need to put patch with fixing issue only after its fixed…But Blizzard 100% waiting for next hero rebalanced patch  or just ignoring this problems like 80% issues so we need to wait like all times.

Hey there LootmasterDK,

Please have a look into this article, as it may provide you with some help.

I got desperate and reinstalled windows , removing everything. That fixed it. lol

None of the suggestions blizzard had could fix it. Blue Post fixes - none of them worked.

I reinstalled windows, still having the same issue. . . bleh.

I’ve tried suggestions to fix it, but it didn’t work for me.
When I tried to create another administrator account - under that account I was able to update and run game, but when I relogined to my original Windows account I still get error message. It’s frustrating as under another account all works.
I’ve tried also to uninstall Battle.net application and install it again, also tried to re-install game - still get this error.
I assume that inside Battle.net application some module is forced to be executed under normal Windows account permissions not administrator ones.

Update:
Just tried solution from here - remove HotS folder from Documents and Settings - and I was able to play HotS.
Just need to configure options as they are lost.
And it seems like I hit another problem - as it tries to update each time I start game, but it still playable.
Good luck guys and have fun!

Creating a new administrator account let me update / install the game but I can’t play it on my main computer account still. I’m not reinstalling Windows for HOTS…

I’m also having this issue.
It’s absurd.
Uninstalling it does nothing either btw. So don’t bother with doing that.
I’m not reinstalling my OS. I might as well find a different game to play

Yeah I’ve done this it doesn’t fix the issue.
Got anything else?

I did the same when it started. After a week of these “micro” updates the problem returns so be prepared to reinstall again.

I dont know what i could do anymore. Did all of the above and nothing changes. Cant install it anymore

Best problem solving its delete this dead game working 100% sure after.

I tried this, does not fix the problem.

Hey, so I created a new admin profile. It installed on there fine and can start up the game.
However, when I go back to my main profile it’s showing as update. And has the same error message of me not being an admin still.

Ideas here?

Same problem, tried everything short of reinstalling windows. Weird how it’s the only game with this error.

Error: This is usually because you’re not logged in as an administrator. Error Code: BLZBNTAGT0000084B I followed the tech document https://eu.battle.net/support/en/article/30277but it did not fix my issue. same error.

Same for me (installing or updating the game promts the message and prevents continuation), i have tried repairing, deleting cache, uninstalling battle.net + hots, i have tried switching the disk i install it to. This error happens for starcraft 2 as well, but not other games which i can install. When the error occured i was lacking disk space, which might have something to do with it. I would not like to defragment my ssd, which is likely not the problem. I would be happy to provide logs or the like to get this fixed as it has completely prevented me from enjoying my favorite games with no end in sight </3.

Thanks for amazing games blizz, can’t wait to enjoy them agaim <3

I fixed it!!!
Rename the “Heroes of the storm” folder in your Documents folder, then restart battle.net!!

Ok, I found the rootcause for this problem.

This happens because for some unknown reason ownership on Documents/Heroes of the storm getting broken.

To fix this, reassign the ownership by clicking PropertiesSecurityAdvanced (at the bottom) then at the top, there is Change button, select yourself, and grant yourself a full control after that.
