Not sure this news is that relevant here.

Also, is done atrociously on Xbox. But that’s also totally irrelevant here.

New record set today…

I wonder how many players are playing using EpicGame and NetEase client.
It seems NetEase client is the dominant client in China.
If so we may reach 1M concurrent players today only on PC.

Probably is already that inc. china tbf.

Overall, OW and MR have around the same amount of active players. But MR tickling up and OW isn’t.

Interesting to see what happens in February/March as OW isn’t available in China atm. NetEase will be distributing OW in China from early Feb.

Where are the clowns who said it would fade fast…

Giving the fact that most PC and console OW players use Battle.net, and they do not make their statistics and numbers available, it is very difficult to accurately ascertain how many players are truly playing OW right now. Only a small number of them use Steam. Even these websites make estimations for the games they cannot get all the statistics and data for.

They still exist and they might still be right. It’s been a month.

It only made $2.7m on Xbox… so it’s a dead game in that platform already.

$100m in a month overall is good. But it includes 2 battle passes. So might not be the most representative of numbers.

Shows how well OW is sill actually doing if they’ve got similar player numbers and making similar money each month whilst having no access to china.

But simply going, “ergh here bigger number, game better”. On a forum that isn’t about that game, is a bit weird. Are the MR forums not satisfying your needs, or are you just deliberately trolling for attention. Advertising your musk platform for engagement…

The fact that you still follow Elon after he guff he’s said recently is telling.

Ofc Ow2 legit revolves around the most borring classes in the entire game.

Every game is tank dif or Ana nade dif for the last 9 season.
Even on widow, if your tank cant create space for you to play the game, its over.
And Ana nade continiues to be the best damn ability in the game where if you hit the other tank the fight is over.

Saw this on Twitter and it pretty much summed up the reason I am seeing most people move over to MR.

If numbers were good, blizz would show everything. They hide them for a reason.

They’;ve always hid them, even at its peak. So it really doesn’t say anything now.

The reality…
MR is doing very well. A nice high peak for a new season. Be interesting to see how it copes with 3 month long season (I suspect in future they will shorten these).
OW is doing fine

MR made $100m in its first month, because it has the Chinese market.
OW makes between $50m-$100m a month without the Chinese market.
(MR strangely made next to nothing from Xbox players).

MR is probably over 25m accounts now.,
OW has over 100m accounts with about 20-25m a month active.

MR doing well is good for OW, as it should push them to do better. Only time will tell what they have in store.

The militant one or the other behaviour is infantile. We should be encouraging each other to play the games they enjoy and hoping both do well. As that is good for gamers.

Being happy about MR is cool and all, but posting about it on the OW forums seems like they are just trying to incite people. Does MR not have their own forums…

I am also laughing at those clowns atm. They are trying hard to steer the subject now :joy: :joy: :joy:

It’s always a little disturbing to see how bad people are suffering from Elon Derangement Syndrome. Almost as bad as Trump Derangement Syndrome, only not as bad because there are legitimate criticisms you can levy against Musk (Primarily his globalist views on countries and how it’s perfectly fine to replace native people with foreigners).

The most charitable interpretation of this could be that people are really deep into the sunk-cost fallacy, that quitting Overwatch 2 would feel like a massive wasted investment. I should know, I feel about that for most games that I have quit after spending a fair bit of money or time on them.

Sounds like cope to me. Could also just be as simple as “It’s fun.”

I still remember the time period where Blizzard were very happy and eager to show off how big they’re doing, such as talking about the heights of WoW in the 11 million player margins… Then all that stopped when they showed how much of a massive dip Warlords of Draenor provided them.

So safe to say that if they were doing bigly, they’d be showing off just like they did all those years ago.

If the current western live service philosophy is anything to go by, all they will do is pump out more skins and cosmetics expecting people to buy them. Any significant gameplay additions are a foolhardy expectation.

They still do that. They sent a press release out in June saying they’d hit 100m players in OW.

Live service, they just pander to what the consumer wants. If they want more Kiriko skins, they give them more Kiriko skins.

Outside of new modes, there isn’t much more you can really add to OW. And in reality comparing to to MR is dim. They are very different games, with seemingly very different fan bases now. OW fans seem to just like to play OW. MR fans seem to just like to talk about OW.

Jokes aside, they are very different games OW being more shooter based, MR being more of a brawling beat 'em up/hack and slash. They also for the time being have very different markets, MR has access to a far bigger market than OW.

But it is good to see MR doing well. It wasn’t for me though. Felt cheap, poorly optimised and I can’t excuse that sound design and VA. But that is just my take. But the better it does, the more it should push others in the scene to do more/better.

If you are a grown up, you will want both to succeed.
If you are infantile and your only personality is inciting people/rage bait, with no no for your fellow gamers. Then you will want one or the other to fail.

It’s never as simple as “If you’re a big adult you will want both to do good.”

The reality is that there are sometimes games that simply don’t deserve to do well. Should Ubisoft games do well regardless if they’re absolutely divisive, soulless slop games? Should Call of Duty be doing well despite recently being proven to be using AI to generate slop?
I don’t think they do. Neither does Overwatch deserve to do well, purely because it’s a game that killed its predecessor, adopted an even worse monetization scheme from its predecessor, focuses more on pandering than actually making interesting characters and… Ontop of all that: Brands. I sure do enjoy brand, and can’t wait for the next brand crossover. Sure hope they do a crossover with favorite brand.

My personality is wanting good games to succeed and bad games to go the way of Concord.

With no… What for my fellow gamers? What are you going on about?
Speaking of, I don’t have any “Fellow gamers”. Who are they to me? The only people I care about who I play alongside with are people in Co-Op games… So long as they aren’t playing like they’re purposefully trying to sabotage the mission.

Because Overwatch is simply a bad game. Why would I want a bad game to do well? Why should anyone want a bad game to do well?

It is always as simple as you make it.

MR and OW doing well is good for the people that play both/either.

It isn’t a bad game. It is a game you don’t like.

MR is is quite clearly a good game, I just didn’t enjoy playing it.

Grown ups can appreciate things for being good without liking them themselves.

And this sums up the mentality these days. Can’t see past my own nose and don’t think about the bigger picture.

Enjoy MR. Sitting on the OW forums telling people you want the game they enjoy to die because you like another game a little more is just sad behaviour. Everyone knew it was going to happen, but it is still lame, low IQ behaviour.

Objectively speaking, it is a bad game, regardless if I like it or don’t like it.

Grown ups are also quite very capable of recognizing when something is bad. While pretending that everythings is judged purely subjectively, never objectively, is quite frankly brain damaged.

You really aren’t as smart or isnightful as you think you are.
Maybe once upon a time ago, when dedicated servers were a thing, there was actual regard for other players. Since everything is now matchmade everyone are nothing more than strangers where you can’t make any attachment towards.

Don’t hate the player for not thinking about other players, blame games randomly throwing people together instead of keeping servers up for people to gravitate towards.

I don’t play the game.

I don’t want Overwatch to die because I like another game more.
I want it to die because it’s a terrible game. I say this as someone who has actually played the first Overwatch and is now getting a front-row seat seeing what’s going on with the “Second” one.

Too fuelled by your dislike of others for me.

If you want OW to die. Stop engaging with in it any way shape or form.

If all you do is sit and tell people how much you dislike something, all you do is make yourself look like a fool.
