🎭 GD Chat Room (Part 2)

If Nim1000 has a body that works that would be fab.
Automatics are about a lot now in the UK and a lot of hybrids. The only issue is finding one that -doesn’t- have loads of smart tech. Just give me a car with maybe AC/Heating and NOTHING ELSE! Git yer smart tech awaaaaii from meee waves stick

What I find funny about electric cars is that when they started market them they were also selling side products with car sounds for it :joy:

It just makes more sense for the average consumer with normal salary to buy 3500e used car and drive it 10 years with normal 2000 euros for repairs. Than buy the 35,000e new electric car and then pay up 10,000e for new battery replacements after 7 years, one cant even really buy them as used cause these batteries will need to be replaced and costs so much.

I read that electric cars are actually so heavy they are damaging the roads :dracthyr_crylaugh:

Im pretty sure in uk they have given a exact year when they will outlaw petrol cars.

And its within this decade if i remember right.

Just looked it up 2035.

Like it or not it will be illegal to drive anything which isnt electric.

They did the same here and Im keenly waiting what will happen with it cause statistic show not even 5% population has moved or plans to move for electric cars. We have 3% of the population using electric cars and polls show people are not interested or going to change for electric in future either.

They soon will if they inforce it and start fines and confiscation.

A good tens years yet though…

Could still get a petrol and get some use out of it before then lol

I dont believe electric cars as it is will be the future in any case, here its already realised its not cost efficient or even remotely possible for the average workers needing a car, and the enviromental saving marketing which now has turned into talk how disposal of the battiers factually taxes enviroment more than old cars. Atleast here the talk about electric cars coming replace petrol has complete stop and I believe in coming years they will announce something new of it aswell cause its not possible to switch entire world into electric cars with this technology we have for batteries.

We crashed our bmw a years ago, it was replaced on the insurance with a electric automatic car.

My dad who drove it hated the idea of driving electric automatic when he first got it.

Couple years later he loves it.

Its like people who get stuck in routines mostly the judge before they even attempt anything new.

I bet a lot of the bad press about electric is from petrol drivers.

Its not about ideology tho, its the cost. The normal worker with his average 2500e/month salary will buy the 3500-5000e used car thats repair costs for next 10 years will be 2000 euro normal range if taken into repair shops. People simply cant afford electric car that costs 35,000e and after 7 years they would have to pay up 10,000e to replace the batteries which also take a huge toll on enviroment and are way too big to dispose of to consider entire world would start using electric. Its just not possible with our current technology for batteries. They would need to invent cheaper and longer lasting batteries that also come in less weight. Unless something change with batteries its kinda impossible to put world only on electric.

You may think its wrong but sadly it wont stop the world making the change if it wants to.

Driving could become a luxury.

People might get a bike to travel shorter distances.

If they are in a position where they need to drive long distance for work then they might have to change jobs.

Like it or not its probably going to happen regardless at least in uk.

I dont think it will, as its now shown how taxing its getting rid of battiers that its already became a bigger problem than any of the enviromental saving effect it would had. Opinions on electric cars have changed and goverment have stopped announcing of it and marketing has stopped selling them as “enviromental friendly”. I dont even know what would be good way to market it anymore, I see theyre shifted on selling it mostly how its soundless and quiet etc theres no advertising about the enviroment no more of them that the disposal of batteries are told destroying earth faster than the use of fossil fuel.

I own an MG4, fully electric. I’m pretty happy with it.

False. They are planning to ban the sale of NEW petrol/diesel cars.

Used petrol and diesel cars will be unaffected.

Complete and utter rubbish.

False.

Complete and utter rubbish.

Complete and utter rubbish.

Why do you do this? Do you get some sort of perverted pleasure out of lying and making stuff up? What are you trying to do?

I got maybe 35-40 years left on this rock and Ill drive old used fossil fuel cars aslong as I have lisence. It wont became impossible on my lifetime anyway. Im also pretty capable of doing most repairs myself with old cars so I just maintain some old used car till I get too old to drive. When dont have alot money one learns to repair household machines and cars and the like themselves.

Only if it’s really warranted and even then its very rare to have to put gritted tyres or even snow chains. I think I’ve only ever seen it once, if the roads are bad the police just usually shut them. Or if they have snow gates like in Glenshee or Blair Atholl they will shut the snow gates. But rural people or people like me who grew up in the glens know when we can drive in the snow and when we just say “yup. No shops today”, it’s people who panic and drive like they’re driving a James Watt steam engine are the problem on wintry roads.

Sure, you should do what works for you.

But I don’t think EVs are as bad you claim they are.
The MG4 is a very solid car and much better ones are already on their way, with longer and longer change, and shorter charging time.
The technology had to mature to be usable, sure, but I think we’ve reached that point.

I be havin’ a theory.

I havent claimed anything tho, its studyes announced that batteries are more taxing to dispose off from electric cars than what the use of fossil fuels are having effect on enviroment. Its publicly announced estimates not opinion. :dracthyr_shrug:

I only used a manual while learning how to drive many years ago, only used automatic since then. I’m not even sure I can use a manual anymore. But judging by all the people I know at work and private, automatic is getting way more popular every year (at least here).
