I have already prepared for the kids at Halloween.
A wondrous banquet of delicacies awaits!
For me.
My gate will be bolted and secured, my front light will be off and the front windows slightly open so my dogs can get their noses out the window and bark at people who try to open the gate.
If they get through the landmines will take care of them. Iāll be watching from upstairs casually chewing on my mini bountyās

Thatās kind of how I feel. I loathe Halloween ā¦ the local police sent out posters that can be printed off to ask people not to knock at your house. Which means I have to leave the outside light on so they can actually read it.
I did leave a bowl of sweets out last year and the little bs took them all. They were supposed to be a treat for me when no-one came

Itās funny because for years this was never a thing in the UK. It was something we saw in American movies.
I remember getting all dressed up with mates and going to doors saying āwant ony guisers?ā and then you actually had to do something like sing a song.
Now they just turn up in a plastic Frankenstein mask, yell āTrick or Treat!ā and hold up a plastic bucket with cheap painted bats on the side.
āAye ok then. Dae something.ā
āLike what?ā
āI dunno. Wash my feet or something.Here Iāll get you the soapā
Would be worthy to celebrate at that point for sure! 
Here they dont even wait for holidays, kids go knocking doors and begging all sort of random things or asking questions like their parents havent teached them its not safe go around knocking on strangers doors or in general bother people.
My utter confusement this one day rushing to door for loud banging only to find kids saying they are going door to door asking for empty soda bottles and so on so they could buy candy. I stare the big kid in confusement and said ānoā and shut the door 
Exactly this. Guising was always a thing in Scotland, but Trick or Treating didnāt exist when I was young. It was a thing when my daughters were young but Iād never let them do it as, imho, itās like begging. It was strange how they always went to friendsā houses for tea on Halloween but I didnāt ask and they didnāt tell me until they were adults
