Actually I wanted to write it cos it gave me a laugh but I held back, but pretty much yeah probably. The permit there is more of for show for legal reasons but its not really as serious as how hard its get one here. In exaggerated comparison in there its like mail order and then going to a gun show buy any weapon you want while listening rock music play on backround on the gun show
Hey leave the fish alone let them sleep with the other fishes
May I interest you for some hand grenades? Said the man wearing military vest and head band while selling table filled with m4 automatic assault rifles in a gunshow with parking lot full 4x4 pickup trucks and hard rock playing at speakers
Florida has three state laws that can cause issues, Concealed Carry, Stand your Ground and āCastleā law. Conceal carry means you are legally entitled to carry a concealed weapon (although you are required by law to declare you have a weapon if a law enforcement official asks you, most likely in a traffic stop), Stand your ground which gives you the right to defend yourself with lethal force and the ācastleā law, which gives homeowners the legal right to shoot intruders. I nearly used ācastle lawā about a year before I came home.
Acquiring them there seem to be alot easyer compared to uk and nordic countries like were the topic but I only mentioned it because what sinaaki said to you that you could probably just get one in uk too if you miss them, and I think I understand the reason why you wouldnt and I figured its the need for way more trouble in acquiring one in uk than compared to florida
Thats the problem with regulation.
If you try to buy any firearm in a store (Yes, even Wal-Mart regardless of the memes youāve likely read) then you will have to pass background checks before you take possession of your firearm.
Private sales and gun shows however are not regulated as they are classed as public sales and are exempt from checks. So if you see someone wandering around with an AR 15 or a Sidewinder missile itās almost certain he or she bought it at a public sale. The main problem however with public sales and especially assault rifles, is they are nearly always converted to bump stocks. Bump stocks are illegal in commercially bought rifles, but you can buy conversion kits privately. And unless someone catches you with an obvious bump stock modification, no one is none the wiser.
Edit. As of June 2024 the US SC made bump stocks legal.
For context a bump stock is a conversion that converts a semi automatic rifle into a machine gun capable of firing hundreds of rounds a minute.
Gun regulations of states can be swamp of fun to dive into
Which is why a lot of laws need to be federalized.

It is a lot easier due to the 2nd amendment of the Constitution and it of course never being upgraded to take into consideration thereās a world of difference between a single shot powder based musket shotball and an assault rifle capable of emptying a magazine of 32 5.56 NATO in 3 seconds. Sinaaki is right in what she said in that I could if I wanted apply for a licence but I doubt very highly I could justify owning a shotgun, a hunting rifle and a handgun, if nothing else hunting with a rifle is definitely illegal.
If I really wanted one I have ways to get one which I wonāt go into. But even if I did, I have nowhere to use it safely and out of peopleās notice. Back āhomeā in Florida I had my huge yard with my targets miles from anyone. I donāt have that luxury in the UK and I donāt want to go jumping through all the hoops here. I do miss them but not that much.
Seeing the latest series of posts here makes me realize how much of a spoiled first world country citizen I really am. I have zero desire to cook and camp like that.
I love the woods, but I want to head back home at some point and sleep in my nice comfortable bed.
My idea of roughing it is a Hotel with no spa.
Camping would be hell for me. No thank you, rather stay home.
Yeah same.
I love āthe idea of itā. Actually doing it: Hell nah.
My stand in guns is that I wont get one aslong I live in city and not have justified need as being part of local hunting group for the area that affects the roads I live in etc. I have my opinion however on tourism hunting that people pour money on while having complete different lives in their homes on urban settings that have nothing to do with any wildlife nearby living in some large city like Helsinki, I think its kinda waste of money and large sums of money invested on something they do only 1 weekend per year but its theirs to use anyway.
I hated camping till 2 years ago. when i was young i was in boy scouts and i hated everything.
Now while walkin i love to do camping. Unfortunately just few countries (scotland and sweden) permit free campingā¦ so i can do that not so frequently. a shame.
There were spa top of Koli mountain in northern Karelia were I did few hikes, theres even glass wall on sauna and balcony with hot tubs with view to lake from top of the mountain
Actually winter could be cool trip to do there once just for the spa experience cause I dont have camping gear that I could do several nights in -20C or will to travel in heavy snow, but the spa could be nice and the view from there. The mountain is 350 meter and the spa top of it has view to large lake. Theres airport hour away on near town for tourists too if they want to experience snow on winter.
Maybe this is next destination for Tesla, I come say hello when you come
Iād honestly be impressed by someone lugging one of those around.
