📢 Women and Minorities Mythic+ Tournament Now Live

No it doesn’t.
Genderfluid people, for example, identify as both.

From the Oxford Dictionary
(of a person) choosing not to be identified as either male or female
aka “neither one of two”

That being said, there is no such thing as non-binary or genderfluid.

Ah, an event that excludes on gender. Exactly what we need in a world where we want equality and no discrimination.

Yeah, i am so thrilled and exited.

Alright.
How do you call a person with both male genitals and a uterus then?

Someone with a birth defect.

Wider variance. The greater male variability hypothesis. It might be one factor.

There could also be others. My personal favourite is that, in general, on average, women are more sensible about life goals than men.

Take Chess. There is enough money in professional chess tournaments for about 5 or 10 people to get reasonably comfortable - not movie-star or top level sport rich, but to stash away a few million over a career. That’s 5 or 10 people in the world. Then there’s also enough for about another 30-50 to make a couple of hundred K a year, and fund an upper-middle-class American lifestyle.

So that’s nice - for about 50 people in the world. And say another 30-50 who have a talent for self-promotion and can supplement with coaching or commentating or writing to make an OK living.

And the amount of study and hours you need to put in over years even to have a shot at being one of those 100 people in the world is crazy.

With odds like that, it really doesn’t make sense to go for it. I mean, sure, if you enjoy it, play in your spare time for fun, but don’t make a career of it; don’t neglect other things to focus on it. The world’s highest ranked woman is pursuing an academic career, and playing chess as a part-timer. More men, OTOH, are more inclined to get competitive and alpha nerd about it, even though the chance of success doesn’t justify the sacrifices.

So it is, I observe, with a lot of things. Men are more prone to go all-in on some one thing, while women are more inclined to balance their time and effort across several domains. So naturally, the few people who go all-in, and succeed, are the ones you will find at the tippy-top of any enterprise.

But if that was the only factor in chess, we would find equal numbers of men and women at the lower ratings and ages, and then an imbalance occurring at higher ratings, as women drop out or ease off. And we don’t. We see more men at all levels.

There is a statistical argument that this initial difference explains the greater difference at top level, but in short I’m not buying it, at least not as a complete explanation.

While we don’t have the same kind of data available for WoW, I think it’s common knowledge that there are significantly more men than women playing, so the same argument is plausible.

So giving a lower-effort, lower-reward pathway for women is a good thing, to encourage and reward participation.

They’re split by gender because of physical attributes like bone density and upper body strength.

There is no reason to do this for WoW.

But I honestly don’t care. Won’t watch, won’t participate.

Yikes :grimacing:
May I humbly suggest to tone it a bit down?
You could ends up flagged and on a parmanent forum vacation for this

Only because the tolerant left can’t deal with scientific facts and difference of opinion. There is nothing inappropriate whatsoever about his statement.

Try saying that in Scotland- i promise to attend your funeral. Monty Python approached tne whole gender identity thing quite well in Life of Brian with Stan wanting to be a woman called Loretta- quite a funny scene.
On topic, i dont give a proverbial flying is someone identifies as male, female or a sandwich toaster. This whole thing looks like a massive virtue signalling exercise but fair play if it works - i wont be watching any of it, tournaments aint my thing

Why? Do men wearing kilts in Scotland think they are women?

Women are biologically superior when it comes to pc gaming. That’s a fact.

Hence all the women dominating competitive esports.

Banning men specifically and calling women a minority is just about the least virtuous I’ve seen in a long time.

I’m sure many disagree though, power to ‘em.

Nah, it’s the case of esport simply being more attractive to guys on average.

But then the women who DO find esports attractive do dominate, right?

Yes, when you factor-in the % they do.

What does that even mean?

It means that there are only a few female representatives in esport.

Pretty sure there are more boys born than girls, and they don’t know why. They do have some theories though. I wouldn’t call it a minority though, as the % difference is small. In my country the rate is 106 boys pr. 100 girls.
