🩄 High Elves will be playable by the end of Midnight

Do we know the full lore on how she came to be that way, and the aftermath? It seems to be it’s not about her, as much as it is about intentionally prodding it out of her.

Thats a touch misleading from their post.
The book doesnt say she doesnt hear them.
It says they rarely trouble her these days.
I take that more of her not getting upset or annoyed at them.

No, there isn’t a problem period. It’s a two faction game, and you chose to be a Void Elf when you could have been a Blood Elf and thus uncorrupted.

The counterpart to a Blood Elf is a Void Elf because a Blood Elf is light and arcane based, and Void Elves are void based, and if we look at the cosmology chart, void is opposite to light.

Even if they dealt with the racial, it wouldn’t be an ‘officially’ implemented Void Elves. Jokes, flirts, emotes, nameplate and the purple blood mark you out as a Void Elf. Which is why they would inevitably be the next things you would start complaining about. You will NEVER be an Alliance High Elf using a Void Elf, but you can try and demand they ruin Void Elves regardless.

The group who call themselves High Elves are as distinct a race as the group who calls themselves the Defias Brotherhood are distinct from Humans. It’s a political term, nothing more.

And recent datamining suggests they are being allowed to return to Silvermoon. With no standalone allied race on the horizon and with it seeming likely they will want to use the presence of Alliance High Elves as a selling point for classic+, it looks like Midnight being used to retire them from the narrative is increasingly the likeliest option. After all, hard to be ‘stalwart members of the Alliance’ when you are living in the heart of a Horde capital. It’s why I was always blasĂ© over the arguments over them ‘going home’. I knew fine well Blizzard was never going to give into the more extreme elements thinking it meant Blood Elves were going neutral. If they go home, they get swallowed. Simple as that.

It doesn’t say she doesn’t hear them. It says she conquered them, which just seems to imply that she has the upper hand, hence the rarity.

“Alleria has conquered the whispers from the Void inside her head, only hearing them on rare occasions now.”

Except it’s not the same.

The Defias never got directly or indirectly influenced by fel. They have nowhere near the same amount of complex history as the High Elves and Blood Elves have at this point in the game.

The Defias only existed because of fakenews spread by a black dragon.

But thats not whats in the book
It says shes rarely troubled by them.

But either way, i suppose it doesnt really matter in the context to the racial because the racial isnt the character being troubled by the void. Its a buff. Its the player calling upon the voids powers in battle.
So suppressing whispers wouldnt make sense for a lore reason to no longer call upon the void.

The entire point of being a Void Elf is that they were either interested in using the void or chose to become a Void Elf. It makes no sense they wouldn’t want to use their void powers.

Considering it’s a randomly occurring passive during combat, and not an active, I think it’s safe to say it’s not a buff they “call on” as much as it is the void overtaking them temporarily, which they harness for the sake of good.

It’s part of the chaotic nature of the void, after all.

And then the Sunwell was restored as the Dawnwell, and the High Elves went home.

THE END

I love happy endings.

I dont think its safe to say that at all.
I dont think theres anything suggesting it either.
I think you’re just looking for reasons to claim removing or changing the racial would be some win for void elves. Its not. Its really really not.

I don’t think so at all.
But if your own racial leader who had to deal with the maddening effect of a fallen Naaru found a way to conquer the voices, then you should be able to as well.

Conquering implies that she is in control.

I agree with you.
Which their racial already shows them being.
So they’re perfect as is.

Except most Void Elf npcs don’t erupt into void like the players do at random.
it doesn’t seem like you’re conquering anything.

You’re quite literally embracing entropy.

Do npcs normally have racials?

Your own leader doesn’t, and she’s beset by a fallen Naaru.
It doesn’t make her any less Void Elf to not erupt into void at random.

We can both play this stupid game.

Weve seen alleria glow with the void multiple times in the game.

Fact of the matter is, youre letting your love of blood
excuse me, high elves, allow you to try and destroy an existing and established playable race so it suits your exact preferences.

Its not cool and its not on.

Get your own race.

I can think of one time she does, and that’s when she absorbed L’ura.

Can you point out any others?

Nobody’s being destroyed, because it would be for Void Elves who, like the npcs, don’t want to erupt into a random purple passive.

It doesn’t make them any less Void Elf.

You honestly dont care about void elves or their fans in the slightest do you?
You just care about you and your selfish desires.

Answer the question.

Heres a fun fact: high elf npcs in midnight exclusively use blood elf customisation.
Not a single one uses void elf stuff.
Blood elf npcs use blue clothing and blue banners.
Seems like the story is going to say that high elves intergrate into the blood elves.
That would be fun wouldnt it.
Im excited to see what midnight brings.
